    I worked at TRW Automotive

    Pros

Pay was at or slightly above industry standards.

    Cons

Poor communication. Excessive work hour demands, working 80 hours per week at times. Seemed like the more you did, the more they expected. Poor morale within the company. Not a good place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve on communication with employees. Work on improving employee morale. A happy employee is a productive employee.

Current Contractor - Machine/Assembly Technician in Tillsonburg, ON

I have been working at TRW Automotive as a contractor

    Pros

The people I worked with on my line were great to work with, in fact a lot of machine operators are very friendly people and work hard. Not a lot of heavy lifting.

    Cons

Very unfair treatment of employees. Ripping off their annual raise. Very cheap company to work for. Their machines are broken, and instead of fixing them properly they just "bandage" the situation and hope it goes away. The health and safety of employees is their last concern. The Metal working fluids they use to machine their parts is full of bacterias and mold, and makes a lot of employees ill. Their "union" is a joke. a waste of $60 a month. Use of contract employees, going through a process of hiring on contract employees full time, but seems very biased. Noticing a lot of women with low cut shirts getting hired. Already pissed of GM enough that they are not allowed to bid on new contracts with them, had to resort to BMW and keeping existing GM lines. Talk among a lot of employees on the floor about the plant possibly going under in a few years. Always running out of components and missing shipment, and management always blames the operators, when in reality, it's management not ordering enough components or not allowing proper maintenance of their machines, thus a lot of machine downtime!! Also, noticing some lines won't have any work all week, yet I see them get mandated every saturday. Totally wrong and should not be allowed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How about you smarten the hell up before you all lose your jobs? learn to take care of your employees.

    Pros

Clean. A lot of hands on minor maintenance & adjustments. Can learn a lot about quality. Promotes from within. Good team enviroments. Voluntary overtime.

    Cons

Some benefit & pay roll backs over the last few years. 3 shift rotation on a weekly basis. Supervisors don't always follow up issues discussed at team meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees, they make the products.

    Pros

It's close to home for me.

    Cons

Management has it's collective head up it's ass.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If TRW expects floor empoyee's and salaried to make concessions then John Plant should seriously consider relinquishing about 95% of his grotesque $19 Million dollar "compensation package".

    I worked at TRW Automotive

    Pros

    - Excellent environment for learning
    - You get to 'get your hands dirty'
    - Since it's a strong Lean/6-sigma-culture company, opportunities to suggest, develop and roll out process improvements are plenty

    Cons

Cons are mostly regarding career progression aspects:
    - No career plan
    - Promotion rely more upon context than performance
    - Lower than average salary

I have been working at TRW Automotive

    Pros

Pay is decent for the area, clean environment, very little physical work, the equipment is becoming newer every day, greedy shareholders and CEO are on their way out, safest place I've ever worked.

    Cons

Heath insurance is terrible, high deductibles, zero copays. Responsibilities are adding up but pay and people are not. Production software is overloaded and outdated. Training programs are sub par and entirely to complicated, fiefdom

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let actual production operators in on the new hire selection process, continuous improvement is supposed to be a step forward not two back, move away from the dictator approach, aquire a personality and a sense of humor please
