    Pros

With no true competition in the market, you really can't find better job security elsewhere. They remain true to their core values within every aspect of the corporation, making it easy to believe in and feel good about the work your doing/what you are selling.

    Cons

True corporation, making it very difficult and time consuming for any changes to be fully implemented. Further, salaries reflect their off-price mentality...

I have been working at TJX Companies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Working Monday thru Friday 9- 5 was great. The discount was always a good thing!

    Cons

Very hard to get to the corporate level from the stores. Not alot of promoting from within. Job openings in the office are not made available to the store associates. The training that is given is not the greatest. Kind of hung out to dry. Too many chiefs in the Corp. Office. Managers, Managers of, AVP's, SAVP's ....... Too much back stabbing in the offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

remove a few layers of management.... might help. Not much of a chance to grow

I worked at TJX Companies full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working close with the potential product. Seeing new product. Working in a fashion atmosphere.

    Cons

Disorganized. First month of training my supervisor didn't know who would be training me, at what time, or on what. Bounced around with so many different people didn't even know what I was learning. My buyers as well as other buyers talk down to their assistants disrespectfully all the time. If there is a miscommunication (even in your first week while you're learning) your buyers will not talk to you about it to help you improve, they go straight to your supervisor. Your supervisors are not helpful unless you act at certain times of the day. If you ask too late in the day they say you should have asked earlier. You get in trouble for everything that you did and didn't do. I have several friends who work there that would say the same and all of them have gone home crying multiple times.
Unreasonable deadlines. Receiving all your work at 4:30 on a Friday and expected to get it done.
Fake. Most people who are merchandise assistants want to be buyers. Everyone is out to get each other and will tell on you for EVERYTHING. Do not make friends here and be careful what you say to anyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell your buyers to treat their assistants with respect. When everyone in the building has respect for each other then everything always runs a lot more smoothly.

I have been working at TJX Companies part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

None anymore. The few good things they did away with.

    Cons

Nepotism, there is no full time unless you're salaried upper management, you will get skipped over to advance to coordinator, the ONLY advancement in the company apparently, despite good worker reviews, pathetic raises to match their bare-minimum wage, work place bullying, disorganized, employee drama, management drama, ineffective managers that shouldn't be there. If the air conditioners fail in April, they will get them fixed the last week of September - just before cranking the heat up to 80 degrees indoors while it's 64 degrees outside & only October.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's time to clean house before your workers unionize.

I have been working at TJX Companies full-time

    Pros

everyone seems nice, lots of smiling and chit chat - it feels very much like a high school hallway of girls
    Decent communication between individual departments
the company is really invested in helping their employees grow
if you survive 5 years in TJX, you will be there until you die in TJX.

    Cons

They reward time spent in the company, not actual skill or job performance
    VERY outdated systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carol and upper managment seem to be doing a great job. The P&A team and buyers do what they can and everyone in between is there because they have been in the company for 20 years, not because they are smart.

A lot of employees are not necessarily of top not education or grades. They kind of just accept anyone who is moldable enough where they can convince them to stay forever

    Pros

employees are all friendly and nice to work with,

    Cons

not very much room for promotions because everyone stays at company and so you cant really move up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

open more stores so that other employee have chance to promote. It is a very good company to work for but because everyone stays there really is no chance to promote because they are all staying.

    Pros

Creating great relationiships with your counterparts.

    Cons

    EVERYTHING! here's some advice=run!
The merchandise supervisor work for the buyers when they say they work to supprt you. They always tell you that they are there to support you, but the second a buyer says something they turn around and blame you and not the buyer.

Buyers treat you like you're disposable. They dont care about your feelings or even if your interested in what they do. Your supervisor will force you to talk to them but when you do they act like your bothering them.

If you are a merchandise assistant there is no career path for you. There are other deparments within the company that have advancment, but MAs are a dead end job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give MAs a chanceto be more responsible. STOP BULLYING people!
