I worked at TJX Companies part-time for less than a year
Pros – This was a great way for me to gain some experience in retail as I was 18 when I started and fresh out of high school. I gained some nice relations with the staff there. Everyone was friendly and around my age besides the managers.
Cons – My manager was beyond rude and a complete B ! I was cross trained to work the mens dept and always be on the register so everytime I would be called to a register my manager will always cause a prob with the other managers about me getting called to a register. I also hated the fact that I was only getting paid 7.25/hr and I was part time working full time hrs which beyond dumb.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to work on giving everyone a reasonable amount of hrs along with a better pay.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at TJX Companies part-time for more than a year
Pros – Schedule, 5 days, Meeting new people
Cons – The management was not that very helpful. They did not pay attention of what was going on within the store. More concerned about employees rather than the theft.

I have been working at TJX Companies full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Room for advancement. Pay for Management positions are mostly set within the industry. Strong Company. Good benefits
Cons – Company is changing at the top, new blood coming in does not seem to be caring on the same standards. Merchandise quality has gone down, especially in the home area. Certain departments at times have very little merchandise to choose from. Too many changes at one time.
Advice to Senior Management – My advice is not to Management as much as it is to Corporate, you need to not fix what is not broken. Stick with the basics that this company has been so successful with and when you notice or have been told about an individual who knows the business has been successful in proving
their worth, judge their advancement on their accomplishments, not on there ability to use those BUZZ words you want to hear. Remember actions speak louder than words.

I have been working at TJX Companies full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Past: If you worked hard, you were rewarded and you could look forward to having a future with this company of which you have given any and all spare time to (nights, weekends, holidays, vacations)
Cons – Now: Outsources IT positions with a company that is apparently not an EOE. You will get notified of being laid off but expected to train your outsourcing replacement before you leave. There is no sense of loyalty from upper management to those in the IT trenches working day in/day out to ensure that all devices are functioning normally and all data is accurate. They only care about the stock price and the shareholders.
Advice to Senior Management – Currently, both the President and former Massachusetts Governor Romney are running part of their campaigns on how to stop outsourcing and bring jobs back here to Americans who need and deserve them. Take heed - STOP OUTSOURCING NOW

I worked at TJX Companies full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Location of Corporate Offices allow for an "reverse commute" if you live in Boston.
Good work / life balance.
Cons – The company will often hire external candidate to fill buyer positions instead of leveraging the training program that they have developed. The work environment can be very competitive as advancement along the career path is slow. Management is inexperienced and primarily consists of employees that are also in the buyer career path and may only be focused on reaching a buyer position instead of developing their team. Analyst have little to no say concerning their subject matter. If you accept this position because you have dreams of becoming an apparel do not be surprised if you are placed in HomeGoods planning teapots. Work spaces consist of two walls of a cube adjacent to several other work spaces giving very little privacy and the impression that you are always being watched. Nepotism is common and relatives/children of current management are given preference/accelerated through the career path.
Advice to Senior Management – Invest in your middle management and the employees you hire into this program. It's not a secret that the program is set up with the expectation that there will be large scale attrition otherwise the company would not hire multiple PASE classes a year consisting of 20+ employees.

I have been working at TJX Companies full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – This is a well oiled machine. Management has a good routine for new people coming in and letting them train with someone who is doing their expected job as a buyer. Most of the departments have a good team atmosphere. The company business is strong and bonuses have been plentiful.
Cons – This buying job used to be about finding the right product. It's not anymore. Now, it's about filling in worksheets, submitting them, waiting for approval, stalling, and then rushing. There is also the usual office politics. This means if you are a god yes person, you'll do great.

I have been working at TJX Companies for less than a year
Pros – Cheap merchandise, okay if you're going to school.
Cons – Short shifts, horrible pay, treated like indentured servants, they never schedule enough people to get stuff done, they have more cameras watching their employees than the actual criminals, they promote management from outside the company, infighting amongst employees and managers are often overheard bad mouthing employees and other managers.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat people with more respect!
