    Pros

Company is transforming - it's like being at Apple when Steve Jobs came back. Exiting to see upfront how this transformation is happening. Deep focus on strong, industry leading products that are a driving force in the re-architecture of today's businesses (internet of things, digital enterprise, big data, streaming data).

Vista transition has actually been helpful. It's allowed the company to focus on what is most important. Leadership has a clear vision and is not distracted. Stronger alignment between major organization pillars of Sales, Product and Marketing - and seeing people work together as a team. Have seen a significant change in last 3-months of co-workers excited for what TIBCO is going to become. Those that are here want to be here and are committed, which wasn't the case when I started. The company is being redefined from the inside out and things that were status quo are being challenged to make this company awesome. Best part is you know that everyone you're working with wants to do the same thing.

The new CEO is very rational and reasonable - understand the business inside and out - as you would expect being the former COO. But, its great to have someone so in-tune with the business, know where it needs to go and have the calmness to clearly articulate that direction to others. I've seen too many other CEOs who didn't know where they were driving the ship and then got mad when they got lost. So refreshing not to be in that situation here!

Company has one of the best benefits package I've seen in a long time! And of course the best cafeteria ever!

    Cons

There are some processes here that are cumbersome and lengthy.
You might gain weight because the cafeteria is a foodie's dream!

    Advice to Management

Don't need to build everything from scratch.
Keep investing in development in new products that help businesses change the world.

    Pros

Its brand name is still good for some prospects as the result of the past leadership.

    Cons

    I will try to summarize:
leadership is clueless and is killing the company.
    marketing is no existent.
good employees are flying out to any opportunity that knocks the door.
culture of pleasing your boss saying good things everywhere.
    no direction or strategy.
basic things like: support, education, channel and alliance are poorly managed.

    Advice to Management

Its time for you to retire and use and abuse of the nice money from the stock option.. let someone that knows what to do to take over...

Vista people you invested 6 billion dollars in this titanic and you are letting it be driven by a bunch of heckless managers, it is time to put your hands on the wheel.

    Pros

Most of the Pro's have gone away over the past couple of years. I hit the eject button because there weren't many pros left to speak of. I guess I could say that once upon a time it was a great place to work, but that place doesn't exist anymore.

    Cons

Now that Vista has taken over, the cons are too numerous to list, but I will give it a try. Spotfire has failed to meet it's numbers for the past two years. All of Spotfire's problems can be boiled down to two basic issues; namely, Marketing and Management. Spotfire has one of the worst marketing organizations I have ever seen. These people simple don't know how to do their job. Totally ineffective, in the extreme. However, the number one issue at Spotfire is the management. Spotfire is a product that could have been the top dog, world class product on the market. They could have been the product that took the market by storm. However, Spotfire management has taken what could have been the Rock Star product of the world and totally destroyed it. Spotfire has no chance at all to become a relevant product in the market at this point. Just take a look at what happened to "Tibco" in the Gartner Magic Quadrant between 2014 and 2015. So, you have decided to jump on the "Good Ship Spotfire" anyway, well you might not get to stay there very long. Now that Vista has taken over they have just rolled out their "Super secret aptitude exam". If you don't score well on it, you will be managed out of a job over the next few quarters. Spotfire is the story of a company and a product that once had the potential to become something great, but ended up falling short in almost every possible way.

    Advice to Management

I wish I could say something that would help at this point, but sadly I think it is beyond the point of no return. I don't think you can fix it at this point. If Spotfire 7 could cure cancer, it would still not be enough to undo all of the damage you have done to this company.

    Pros

A still large (but dwindling) number of talented people. Great work-life balance, as everyone is pretty much sitting on their hands waiting for this corporate collapse to run its course. Plenty of time to work on one’s resume, as well as follow HR trolling on Glassdoor with their 5 star reviews making grand claims about Apple-like future for Tibco and touting the quality of the cafeteria.

    Cons

Stone Age business practices that seem to continue unabated after the Vista acquisition. C-grade upper management pretty skilled in raiding the company accounts to write themselves “retention” bonuses, but not so much in actually running the business. No clear vision, with fancy slide decks stuffed with high-tech lingo going for strategy. Total lack of corporate execution transparency with the obvious goal of avoiding accountability. A foul culture of treating people as an expendable resource apparently thinking there will always be more where these came from (hint: there may not be). The list can continue, but it should already be obvious all the building blocks for a 21st century high-tech winner are in place here.

    Advice to Management

Giving advice to current management is not worth wasting the screen pixels. Advice to Vista: take a closer look at what you’ve got here and roll up your sleeves quickly while there is still something salvageable left, you may not have a lot of time for the Herculean task of cleaning these stables. Advice to prospective employees: keep looking, there are way better career choices in the vicinity.
