I worked at T. Rowe Price

    Pros

Good benefits, get a bonus every year

    Cons

Work load is quite high with some of the worse salaries in the company. Starting out the call center reps can make more money than a RPC without half as much responsibility or impact on how the company is viewed by clients and the community

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Standards are high in every other area. Why now increase pay so that they compensation is at least competitive with other companies

I have been working at T. Rowe Price full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Really nice people, generous vacation time and very understanding when personal issues arise.
They have given me a great and challenging project because I have the right skills, behaviors and history. Have not pushed back at all.

    Cons

Politics abound. Other groups try to stall resources and projects. Names of divisions change constantly so this adds to confusion. A bit of Nation-Building going on, as best that can happen in a small mid/size company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some Standard Operation Models in place and stick to them. Have patience, it takes awhile for them to settle in. Nothing is perfect at first, so give it time and trust your teams.

I worked at T. Rowe Price as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Learned a lot during my time there. Everyone was extremely friendly and willing to help. I worked on meaningful projects. Company strives to help the community by volunteering at local charities.

    Cons

Internship program structure could have been better. There were days where I had nothing to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dedicate more time to interns and make sure they have enough work to do. Dedicate projects to interns and have them work more with the departments.

I worked at T. Rowe Price

    Pros

If you are driven and are willing to take the initiative, TRP will definitely help you pursue opportunities within the firm. The company provides great training opportunities. The corporate training courses are beneficial professionally and personally. They definitely provide some of the best benefits too.

    Cons

Honestly, I've never really had a bad experience. Sometimes the moral of the departments could be negative, but i feel like you have to factor in individual attitudes as well.

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and beautiful, wooded Owings Mills campus with onsite cafeterias and fitness center. Friendly employees with some great underlying talent.

    Cons

Talent not recognized if it doesn't fit in exactly with management styles. Good starter company to learn the basics, but don't stay too long, you'll stall out your career. I waited too long to find that out. As the saying goes "You don't leave a company, you leave a manager."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and never forget Thomas Rowe Price's principle of "Take care of your customers and they will take care of you." The mission is becoming diluted and personal and divergent missions have taken over.

Former Employee - Retirement Account Manager in Tampa, FL (US)

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked here from 2008-2010 during the recession.

If you could network well and avoid the politics, you did well. The firm was pretty stable. We didn't take as big a downsize hit during the recession compared to other finance firms. Plenty of opportunity for overtime pay.

    Cons

Sometimes too much politics. If you aren't careful you can get type-casted in a negative way and your opportunities will be limiting.
