ProsThey offered more than I expected. Office culture seems to be very laid back.

Great place to work in at the start of your career with excellent work life balance and opportunities. Fairly flat organ

Project Consultant (Current Employee) Oxford, England (UK)

ProsA fantastic place to start your career and learn from one of the most highly skilled staff in the industry. Great opportunities to pick or choose the work that you would be interested in and given responsibilities straight away. Good work-life balance with flexible work times as long as you finish the tasks assigned on time.

ConsBenefits don't tend to go up with the amount of experience you gain. Depending on which segment you are on, there is little opportunity to go to different products, move up in the organisation and expand your horizons.

The company is not what it used to be

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThere are still some good projects to work on.

ConsManagement really doesn't care about employees. Pay is becoming lower and lower day by day. This company used to be among the best paying ones, now sadly, even TCS can pay better than them.

Advice to Senior ManagementGain back your clientbase.

Good Sales organization poor sense of strategy or direction

    Senior Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGood Sales organization, Overall Good and well meaning people and great breadth of products + nice recognition program for successful sales

ConsNot enough R&D expenditure and overall too many acquisitions that have resulted in a lack of shared culture and in a great difficulty to understand the company's offer. No real product strategy either and a definite lack of enthusiasm.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on Financial Middle-Office and Back-Office which are the core strenghts of the company and shed the rest. Define a product strategy backed up by a serious R&D budget
Make sure the customers and employees have a sense of direction for the company.

Continual change in management and expectations

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWith right set of managers you have the ability to take ownership of projects and move forward.

ConsConstant Management change and new prioritizing of goals makes it difficult to met expectations timely.

    Good company but watch out

Sales Executive (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

Pros- In many ways a social environment with flexible hours
    - There are some very strong products within the company which can sell well.
    - Good company to work for if you like a strong sales environment, if you don't and want to build longer term client relationships SunGard can be challenging.

Cons- First and foremost a very sales orientated organisation. Which doesn't need to be a bad thing, but as of late it has become sales for the sake of sales without the necessary development in the product and this is bad. Whether this has historically always been this way, I do not think so but for the last 2 years this has definitely been reality.

Advice to Senior Management- Don't lose yourself in quarterly targets, this is very dangerous for SunGard but most of all the clients. To achieve the best results for clients targets should be flexible over a 1 to 2 year period.
    - Don't be afraid to axe managers who are fundamentally ill equipped to handle their position.
    - Create a more open environment where all are capable of voicing their concerns.
