I worked at Southern California Edison full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be a great place to work. Great coworkers, leading the industry, benefits, and the likes.

    Cons

Everyone is being laid off so SCE can bring in "managed services" , ie. TEMP STAFFING so they don't have to pay benefits. THe recent 5 STAR reviews are fake and bought. Internal atmosphere is dreadful and hellish. I'm so glad I got out of there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Southern California Edison full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Career opportunity
    Pension
    Great salary and benefits

    Cons

Company going through some long overdue restructuring like all companies. A few long serving employees now being held more accountable and don't like it. This is to benefit the rate payer to reduce energy cost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep changing the culture

I worked at Southern California Edison

    Pros

The pay and benefits are better than average. The work is not hard work. Great place to work if you are accepted as "one of us" by your fellow workers.

    Cons

Takes a long time to get anything done. Lots of "we don't do that here." Lots of nepotism and other forms of "in group" attitudes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

I have been working at Southern California Edison full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Depending on your department and manager, they may do a lot and help you with your career path. Work-life balance is a joke! IT is not the place to be for work-life balance.

    Cons

There is no communication within the company. There are communication at the higher and public level. In regards to changes within organizations, there is always a hesitation. There is no collaboration within the organizations.

I have been working at Southern California Edison full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay, great benefits including 401k match and pension, job security, lots of dedicated people to work with

    Cons

Can be difficult to move into management, little reward/incentive when the average worker tries to become great, resistant to change, very political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A more defined cross training or rotational program would be so helpful, but are rarely offered or executed. Many people work long hours or on vacations, resulting in poor work/life balances and bitterness or indifference to their jobs. Continued education could be encouraged a bit more.
