I have been working at Siemens full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

My experience with Siemens was quite good overall. Compensation and challenges were great, leadership was pretty good, however pressures from HQ would sometime create issues for country business. Training was available to an extent, but most of it relied on your own initiative to request it, collaborate with others, or learn it on your own. The Managers and other staff were fantastic - experts in their own fields and quite professional across the board.

    Cons

Company is in a constant state of restructuring resulting in thousands of people being laid off at a time. If a business segment doesn't perform, or has a poor potential it will likely be sold off, or closed down. HQ and a matrix management structure can create confusion, conflict and a significant layer of bureaucracy to navigate. Depending on financial performance, priorities may change very quickly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your staff and fight for them. Would like to see more emphasis in sustainability offerings.

I worked at Siemens as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Incredible work environment, friendly and helpful people all around the company, interesting job, and a lot of room for improvement.
Very nice infrastructure, with cafeteria, clean and bright environment, open concept.
No defined offices or seats, anybody can seat wherever they want.

    Cons

Work can get a bit monotonous. It is always the same thing everyday

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to use interns for more complicated tasks. Sometimes I felt I was bored with the job I was put to do.

    I worked at Siemens full-time

    Pros

Modern, and top of the line technology, good pay and benefits

    Cons

At the time, too many changes were happening, including gross downsizing, causing morale to be very low. At the same time changes in management happened, which is the majority of the reason for my title of great to bad to good. It had been transformed from a Canadian company owned by Germans to a German company owned by Nazis, and now a German company owned by the entire world; as they have streamlined every aspect of business to one global standard. Good for the shareholders, not so much for the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communication with your key employees. Employees are what makes a company great.
