    Pros

Coworkers are awesome! They managed to hire awesome people.

    Cons

    - Cold-blooded management level and CEO ignore the health of their employees during holiday peak season. We worked 70+ hours a week continously and they will lure the temporay employees to work hard by saying you'll have a chance to be hired as a permanent after that, but the permanent spots are extremely limited. Even if you turned permanent, they can let you go without notice when they don't need you in low season.

    - I got tendonitis and almost got carpel tunnel from working crazy hours non-stop on the computer (I worked as a production designer). My trainer had a brace on her wrist all the time and see doctors for that. Even a coworker from the sales department got issues with her wrist because of continous web chat with customers (not sure if that's carpel tunnel or what). I heard that she turned into a permanent but was disposed of when low season came.

P.S. Because of the insane hours during peak season (10+ hours daily), employees only have a few hours to go home to sleep (maybe 4 hours?) and get back to work and won't have a chance to "meet" their families because of that. Scenes of families "united" on Sunday lunch breaks in the break room are still vivid in my memory.

P.S. 2 If you treasure your life and health, this is not a good place for you.

    Advice to Management

If you really cared about your employees, you should not let people work inhumane hours and should hire more people instead. That's actually illegal too. Someone could sue you for that.

    Pros

good medical benefit, although I don't really need it

    Cons

But a good consistent working environment is much more important than medical benefit.

    Pros

It's a pretty chill and laid back job. As long as you do what you are supposed to do, no one bothers you. You get a bunch of free stuff.

    Cons

Bad morale in the call center. After the peak season, if there aren't that many people calling in, you get sent home with no pay. These customers are some of the nastiest, most rude, and most needy people I have ever encountered before in my life.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and care more about the morale. The happier your employees are, the better customer service they will give. Remember, your employees are YOUR customers too!

    Pros

A great atmosphere to work in. People are nice. Collaboration is encouraged.
The Santa Clara Office has amazing views of Great America Park and the new 49ers stadium.
Lots of perks in the office, like food/drink/snack, ping pong and foosball tables.

    Cons

They treat contractors as a bit of a second sort employees. Not invited to company events, cut unceremoniously.

    Advice to Management

Consider retaining a contractor that already knows the stack, if he wants to stay rather than hiring a new person to re-train.

    Pros

Great people, fun environment, good pay

    Cons

Shutterfly's busiest season begins in October and does not end until Christmas day. With so many mandatory overtime hours you will literally live at the place. It is difficult to create a healthy work:life balance. I worked in customer service, schedules changed consistently sometimes weekly.
