    Best place I've ever worked.

Colour Specialist/Make Up Artist (Former Employee)

Pros- Free make up (alllll the time)
    - Amazing people to work with
    - Great place to make professional contacts
    - Fantastic training
    - Good team environment
    - Store discount

Cons- Pay is average if you're just starting out
    - Even if you're not standing around doing nothing, management are very focused on you 'looking' busy - even if there's nothing to do/no customers
    - When I quit, I was nothing to management any more, even though they were super lovely to me before

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    A degrading experience

Client Service (Former Employee) Calgary, AB

ProsReceiving free products and learning about beauty products

ConsLow hourly rate; on your feet for 8 hours; forced to approach clients with a fake smile and canned intro lines; not allowed to let your own personality show; reprimanded without thorough explanation of what you did wrong

Advice to Senior ManagementAs a current client of Sephora: employees should be encouraged to be themselves - this will make the experience more personal for clients; Clients should be allowed to browse without being tailed by sales people; employees who are paid well and treated like individuals do a better job...

Proslots of free product, some staff was awesome, you got to be free with looks and hair color.

ConsNot much room for growth, promoted externally, the uniforms were not comfy, demanding needy clients, some people were petty and lots of drama

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your employees and do not hold friendships they make in the workplace against them

The most amazing company I've ever had the pleasure of working for.

    Skincare Lead (Former Employee)

    ProsUnsurpassed training programs.
Opportunities to travel to attend trainings are often (and paid for)
TONS of free product (gratis) given to you all the time. (You will never have to buy beauty products again, no matter if you're full time or part time; seasonal employees sometimes are left out of the gratis.)
You will be able to move up very quickly within the company if you show your desire to.
Work-Life balance is one of their highest values, and it shows.

ConsStarting wage can seem low, especially if you are a trained makeup professional with credentials. I recommend this job to someone who does makeup as a passionate hobby, because if you go out and pay for an education in beauty school, you will not enjoy the compensation at Sephora.
That being said, someone who has a knack for makeup or skincare and has a background in customer service will love this job because all training is provided, its fun, and you really come out feeling like you received an education you should have paid for.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
