Former Employee – worked at Schneider Electric full-time for less than a year
Pros – Great people to work with.
Direct managers are very helpful and always encouraging you and rewards you when you achieve a very god performance which is a great plus for me especially if you are a new employee.
Cons – Low salary for entry level.
Not much interaction between department.
Was never presented to upper management which led to uncomfortable situations,
Not very good relations with HR.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase salary. Have better motivational incentives. Try to present the new employee to avoid uncomfortable situations. Overall its a great company to work with.

Current Employee – been working at Schneider Electric full-time for more than a year
Pros – Large multinational organization. Movement between other entities and countries is highly encouraged. Good opportunity to gain experience.
Cons – Experience depends on where you work because there are lots of different entities and not all are the same. Integration of those entities have not been that good. You have to move to a different location if you want to move up.
Advice to Senior Management – Not much people know what Schneider Electric is or does so try to improve brand awareness.

Former Employee – worked at Schneider Electric full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The people!!! Experience and exposure
Cons – Very slow compensation growth. Upper management has little appreciation for hard work, takes advantage of people's good will. Increasing responsibility does not link with increasing pay. If you are not part of inner circle, opportunities are limited. Have to 'tow the company line' of you won't fit in. Disappointing that location doesn't challenge implementation of company programs that have no substance
Advice to Senior Management – Pay people what they are worth. Don't short change new grads in their compensation. Accountability is an issue, with poor performers allowed to float along. This hurts motivation in those who care and try.

Former Employee – worked at Schneider Electric full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – They have a TEAM oriented system where everyone's input IS valued. A lot of places just say that, Schneider Electric MEANS it, with that in mind they allow us as employees to feel valued and respected.
Cons – Where I worked, there was a heavy use of CONTRACTS, and no real incentive or timeline for an employee to get off the Contracts and become a full time employee.
Advice to Senior Management – Get people off contracts and hire more full time.

Former Employee – worked at Schneider Electric as a contractor for more than a year
Pros – Large international company may look good on your resume. Good if you want exposure to a vast company with rigid processes and flat budgets. Good if you need to work for a few months without commitment. Permanent employees can transfer to other offices around the world.
Cons – Entire IT infrastructure is locked down. Very bureaucratic, with lots of politics. Employees and managers have a difficult time deviating outside of long-established protocols and routines, which means you tend to use old tools, old computers, and old processes, and things can take a long time to get done. I worked as a contractor, with continual hints that I could get hired as a permanent employee. Many of the staff in the Saanichton offices were on contract, but in the year that I was there, no contractors were hired. There are some big egos in the Victoria offices, too, which I think comes a the small-town company being bought out by a transnational goliath. The offices are located in the distant Victoria suburbs, and isolated from the rest of town. The Bertram Place office has a truck repair shop next door, which regularly pumps diesel fumes into the Schneider air conditioning system. Unpleasant washroom facilities, and frequent network and power outages.
Advice to Senior Management – Don't put such a stranglehold on technology and processes. Move the office closer to Victoria. Be more open and accepting of employees bringing new ideas (and technology) in from outside. Hire permanent employees, don't contract everything out. I think the constant contract renewals made a negative impact to morale.

Pros – Great Benefits Package
Stock Purchase Plan
Some fun extracurricular activities and events
Unlimited espresso drinks
Free Donuts on Fridays
Cons – Too many leadership/management changes....goals/strategy keeps changing
Employees are being pushed too hard to do more with less. For some, it is reaching breaking point.
Company is having challenges hiring skilled / qualified people within the area.
Employees who have been with company for long time are quitting, which is leaving a huge void with respect to accumulated knowledge/expertise.
Company has been more concerned with cost cutting than employee attraction/retention.
Compensation is average and not as competitive as other companies with similar positions

Current Employee – been working at Schneider Electric
Pros – SE is a company with many initiatives that promote a clean, healthy planet.
Power management, power stations for electric vehicles, alternative energy, and applications for industry. I am proud to say I work here as I am associated with these same ideals.
Cons – There are many, many business units. This makes it hard to work together to fulfill our common goals. Many of the businuss units become redundant due to the many takeovers at Schneider. (Instead of developing business, many times Schneider will buy an existing business and leverage their assets.)
