Former Employee – worked at Samsung Group full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Incredible technology. Very ambitious company. Will dominate for the foreseeable future. Lot of opportunity internally to advance. Treat employees and junior staff very well. Generous with social events and team building. Often provide gifts to all staff at times of key local holidays. Reasonably philanthropic.
Cons – Focus on reporting back to HQ as a priority versus dealing with key customer/partner or other local market focus and priorities. An over abundance of employees sent from HQ to regions to monitor staff performance. Rotational management from HQ sent to run subsidiaries do not always possess appropriate skills or the time to adjust to the local scenario.
Advice to Senior Management – More attention should be paid to local clients, partners and customers and less attention on HQ's expectations.

Current Employee – been working at Samsung Group
Pros – Huge learning experience, opened doors to future opportunities. Is a global company so will have access to many different facets of the business.
Cons – Work ethic in corporate culture especially with senior managment can be intense and demanding. Very strong Korean culture can be difficult when expressing ideas to korean team, sometimes will encounter language barriers that slow efficiency. Not enough women in senior roles.
Advice to Senior Management – promote based on ability and not seniority. Promote more women in senior roles, break out of the conservative shell. Less Korean influence in a North American company.
