I have been working at Royal Bank of Scotland full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good pay and great benefits. The company also seems to be committed to diversity in the workplace. I was able to work with a group of very smart and very skilled professionals. Free coffee!

    Cons

Leadership lacks any real direction. The bank is so concerned about the public's perception that they totally forget about their own employees. Annual raises are non existent and only high level execs have seen bonuses in the last 5 years. Bank continues to be fined and post annual losses. Stay away from this place if you want to actually advance in your career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set a clear direction for the bank and clearly communicate your goals. Focus more on your employees. Happy employees can be the best evangelists to promote a positive reputation in the public space.

I have been working at Royal Bank of Scotland full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They offer a good work life balance, good PTO and a work environment that doesn't put stress on working 50+ hour work weeks.

    Cons

Senior management never follows thru with ideas or current business plan. They will come out with a new plan for the year and nothing will happen. You will wait month after month for announcements and when they do have an announcement it's so high level you will never see anything come from it.

    Pros

I got a chance to work with highly talented technical experts.. The camaraderie between team members was good.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy and conflict with global counterparts.. Any project decision took ages to be finalized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A little thought should be given for company's welfare rather than job preservation..
