I have been working at Regions Financial

    Pros

Lot's of fun events at the branch and regional level; training is excellent and regional (Middle TN) management is kind, supportive, and motivating.

    Cons

Base pay lower than several competitor banks; sales bonuses have been made harder to attain, thus lowering annual income

    Recommends

I have been working at Regions Financial part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Daily interaction with customers that soon become like family, bonuses if you reach your referral quota, and extensive, all inclusive, paid training for all positions.

    Cons

Stressful sales environment, cultures vary between branches, no benefits/ time off for part-time employees, and nearly impossible to get the time off you really want if you're full time. They claim to have a good work/ life balance but this really depends on your branch manager. Customers have a tendency to not fully understand their account's fee schedules and this leads to unhappy customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Branch Managers- Be more involved with the customers and don't hide in your office all day. Also, be mindful that your time off really affects others in the branch. We need you there!

Upper Management- Stop punishing subordinates for speaking their opinions and offer more help/ advice when it comes to branch reviews and audits.

    I worked at Regions Financial

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the customers and getting to know everyone. They are very good at keeping up with your training and focusing in how it can help you do your job.

    Cons

The management didn't take control of situations letting them just get worse. Some people are overworked while others just get to cruse through without much thought to others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better leadership and to not be afraid to reprimand people when they are not pulling their weight.

    I worked at Regions Financial

    Pros

Good products, decent underwriting, and by and large good team members that are willing to help the newer employees better understand what is required.

    Cons

Leadership is not very good. There is much to much turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just do a survey and read the results. Get out in the field and listen to those in the field. Look at individual performers and listen to both the good performers and those that are not performing. Those not performing are a big key to Regions success or failure. Clearly, they know what the problems are.

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The bank, itself, is a great place to work. Admiral how senior management has turned the company around during the past 5 years. For employees, the bank provides excellent benefits.

    Cons

Unfortunately, some departments are siloed and often certain employees experience discrimination, prejudice, and hostile work conditions if they don't meet the political mod. Its difficult to post out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide growth and development opportunities, employees enjoy learning and taking on more challenges. Also, provide regular and timely feedback.

I have been working at Regions Financial

    Pros

The training is very beneficial and it helps prepare the associates to be successful in their respective field.

    Cons

The financial industry is constantly changing which makes it difficult for the associates to stay compliant with the rules.

  9. Excellent job security, but outdated technology and horrible communication

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent job security, decent corporate culture (most people are pretty friendly, and it isn't a dog eat dog culture), nice enough facilities

    Cons

Very outdated systems, which are a headache for me as a data analyst. Loads of politics, although that's true at any bank. The absolute worst thing about Regions, though, is the siloed LOB structure of the company itself - the right hand never knows what the left hand is doing, so oftentimes they end up duplicating work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk! Communicate! We would be so much more efficient if we didn't duplicate each other's work unnecessarily.

    Pros

Great people. That want to do the right thing

    Cons

Low pay, very little creativity, good ol boy network at the leadership level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add a little diversity to leadership, understand the need for better pay without offense.
