Former Employee - Assistant Store Manager in Williamsburg, VA (US)

I worked at Reebok part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, able to plan your own schedule if manager and allowed many employees for various scheduling use. Good managers, with the amount of assistant managers, a lot of collaboration brought out good ideas for planning and execution.

    Cons

Pay- low pay for assistant managers, low hourly pay for assistant managers.
    Hard to move up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Distract managers who get paid to travel and visit stores come in for 30 minutes and leave... Waste of money if they are not going to observe what system.

A good job for high school/college students or if your future goals are working as a retail manager this a good job for you.

    Pros

The insurance is wonderful!!! Wish I still had it!

    Cons

If you are not into crossfitt, or are into sports, this could not be the best fit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what lane you want to be in and stick to it. Are you going to be a fitness brand , or are you going to try to compete with the big dogs in the athletic industry. If ,so the company needs to do some serious self reflection and realize they are not in the same zip code with the Nikes, UA, or even your parent company, Adidas.

I have been working at Reebok full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Many of the non-managment employees are truly talented and hardworking. A great worklife balance in the footwear department.

    Cons

Almost comedic lack of direction and focus. Weak upper management and weaker Director level. Offen times the wrong people promoted for the wrong reasons.

Lots of layoffs - I mean 'restructuring' - over the past ten years.

    No career planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make the best product possible - not the best product possible for a price. Stop all of the compromises to the product and don't release something until it is ready.

    Less is more.

Create a career path to follow for each employment category.
