    I worked at RGIS

    Pros

-Will hire almost anyone as not a whole lot of skills are needed
-Different retail stores to do inventory for. Allowed for variation and a different working environment each shift
-Company pays for hotel when you go out of the city that's 4+ hours away
-Company pays for travel time (after 1st hour i.e if travel is 2 hours, you get paid for 1. If travel is 3 hours, you get paid for 2)
-Company pays for gas at a predetermined rate and time driving when you are transporting other workers in your own vehicle
-Flexible shifts (however, the shifts are made according to retailers, so you might not get many hours if you restrict your availability)
-Company fleet vehicle plus gas card if you are a manager or team leader for a project (such as Walmart or Canadian Tire) and hold a drivers license
-Raises semi-frequently (up to a certain amount though. Don't expect to be making $15+ here unless you are a manager)
-Minimum 3 hour pay (if shift runs less than 3 hours, you still get paid for a full 3 hours)
-Schedule emailed to you 2 weeks in advance. Allows room to plan your life
-Different tasks if you're lucky (mapping as opposed to inventory)
-People of many backgrounds, life stories, etc. Makes for an interesting time if you get to know your coworkers.

    Cons

-Sometimes long shifts (12+ hours). Sometimes short shifts (less than 3 hours). Working hours are not consistent
-Work is repetitive. Sometimes have to sit on floor to count items and you will get dirty or hurt your back
-No culture. You are expected to work with minimal talking to coworkers. No work parties or gatherings or anything unless you're in upper supervision or management.
-Poor communication for some. Seniority over skills (if you've been there for a while and show good initiative, they'll promote you to supervisor or manager, even if you lack good leadership or management skills)
-Uniforms are ugly. Suggest they should make sweaters for cold days because layering underneath the uniform shirt is not comfortable.
-One week you will get 60hrs, another week you will get 15hrs. To be fair though, it's all about the clients that request inventory services. There are high seasons and low seasons. This is not controlled by RGIS.
-Will more likely advance you to higher positions if you own a car. This is because as a supervisor, you need to transport equipment. However, this is not exclusive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Communicate with your employees. Not just management. Many employees are afraid to voice their opinions as they feel they may lose their jobs for standing up. Make sure everyone is happy and try to allocate different tasks to employees every now and then as the work does get repetitive. Try to make use of different skills. Employees may surprise you with what they have to offer
-Balance working hours better. No one wants to work a solid 12 hours unless they're really desperate for money. See if you can have someone work for 8 hours and someone fill in after them for 4 hours. Or 6 hours vs. 6 hours.
-Supply food for extremely long shifts. Some people don't bring food to their shifts, and some people buy. But when the food retailers are closed during a break on your shift, you get hungry. Maybe try to supply some snacks. Many other companies do this.

I have been working at RGIS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This job is particularly for people looking for flexible work, part time. There is amazing potential to advance within the company, as long as you take your job seriously. Pay isn't the greatest, but if you show that you're working, it is noticed and well rewarded. There is potential for supervisor positions within the company in less than a year, as well as management in under 3. If the flexibility and hours (shifts are round the clock) work for you, it is a great place to be. Some raises are awarded according to a performance appraisal of APH ( audits per hour ), which is the speed at which you can accurately count items. It's not difficult at all.

    Cons

Tedious work. Days sometimes consist of many short shifts. Depending on where you are, management is horrendous. Starting pay is low for what the work is worth. Shifts are not consistent. Slow periods are VERY slow, one could not support themselves off this job alone unless you get promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop giving away supervisor positions to people only for being fast. Leadership in TL's is crap. Training sucks. everything else... is great.

I worked at RGIS full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Really, none. Absolutely none. Do not work here.

    Cons

Early morning shifts (5am-9am), or night shifts (10pm-3am) are the only ones available. Prepare to have no social life. Management treats you like garbage. People you work with have terrible body odour & are not smart at all. To be honest I don't know how this company is still functioning. I started as an auditor (min wage) then got promoted to a team leader, who has to carry a bulky printer around and oversee all the min wage workers are doing fine + hit the entry per hour target. All that work for only $1/hr extra. You're better off working at McDonald's or Starbucks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nobody wants to do this job that's why you guys hire illegal immigrants (whom often reek of b.o.) & people who barely speak English.
