Current Employee – been working at OfficeMax full-time for more than a year
Pros – The best advancement rate and amazingly strong Leadership at store level. The company is stable and was not affected by the economy. The business model breeds a hybrid of tech knowledge and enhanced customer service.
Cons – The staff are under paid for the amount of work and knowledge the bring to the table. Each store seems to have a considerable problem staying staff due to the employees not receiving proper composition for their amazing sales and technical abilities. Management above the store level seems to have become disconnected from us (management) at store level.
Advice to Senior Management – Fix the pay scale... I am a Sales Specialist (key carrying MOD) and make less then a cashier at Costco... This is the reason I will be departing from the company.

Former Employee – worked at OfficeMax full-time for less than a year
Pros – Fun atmosphere
Good insurance
Every day is different
Cons – Horrible pay
Managers never close
Advice to Senior Management – Pay people by how much responsibility you give them - if they are opening/closing a $15k/day store, $10.25 isn't an appropriate wage

Former Employee – worked at OfficeMax full-time for more than a year
Pros – flexible hours (depending on the kind of manger u get)

Current Employee – been working at OfficeMax full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The people and culture are great. I love the laid back environment and the people are generally really good to work with. At headquarters, not unusual to see the CEO and EVPs walking around and being, well, normal people. I think the company has a lot to offer its employees.
Cons – Some disconnect between some departments makes it difficult to get the information we need.
Advice to Senior Management – trust that your employees are trying their hardest in a fragmented market and a bad economy.

Pros – Super flexible, laid back, gym downstairs, great informational seminars.
Cons – Segmentation among departments, boring at times, seems you have to go horizontal to go vertical. Aramark cafe overpriced

Current Employee – been working at OfficeMax part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The associates are great and friendly
Managers try to work around your schedule for work
Cons – 1. Pay isn't high enough to make me want to stay
2. Some of the customer make you want to lose your minds
3. Tech that we have to use ( cash registers, Impress computer) all out dated and slow which doesn't make our customers happy either
4. Have been teased for 3 years on advancement in the company. I have just given up.
5. Always about sales
Advice to Senior Management – Pay raises
New tech for the stores
To many questions you have to ask the customers, maxperks, godaddy, plcc, mimedia, Paper, then you have to tell them about the survey. becoming very tedious.
Remember every store is different and everything won't work for every store.
