Current Employee – been working at Novartis full-time for less than a year

ProsHuge company with lots of different paths for individual development. The comapny also supports employees with individual development plans based on skills, interests and background.

ConsThe size of the company has the disadvantage that many processes are well defined and many people/functions are involved. Therefore, quick decisions or individual ideas are difficult to realize.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize flater hirachies! Quite difficult to oversee all structures.

Current Employee – been working at Novartis full-time

ProsGood salary, benefits, vacation time. They seem have a decent pipeline, and are pushing for new products to reach market faster. People and environment are usually decent. Immense resource of intelligent employees.

ConsIt seems you have to know someone to get in, and be "chosen" to move forward into a higher position. Also, certain situations are not handled by management and HR in a confidential or proper manner.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more direction for newer employees to be able to reach higher levels. Pay more attention to how functional managers behave toward their subordinates. Corporate management may have great strategies, but those ideas will be lost if not carried throughout all levels of management.
