    Pros

As a salesperson, you develop lasting relationships with your customers.

    Cons

Working on commission creates an overly competitive environment among salespeople at times.

    Pros

Awesome exposure to a great company. You learn a lot about how the company works and get experience with one of the best customer service experiences.

    Cons

If you're seasonal, prepare to be working long hours. A lot of set up with sales, but great turn out= great commission.

    Advice to Management

A bit more training to seasonal employees to learn key things on registers.

    Pros

-make as much as you sell
-can move up if they like you
    -great on a resume
    -good customer service experience

    Cons

-not a stable job. If you have real bills to pay, this is not the place to work
-favoritism between management and certain salespeople. No different than any other workplace
-you've gotta suck up to move up
-very competitive environment. can become stressful

    Advice to Management

    -pay personal attention to team
-don't stress your salespeople out with crazy sales goals. If the work environment is fun and positive, the sales will come
    - encouraging competitively amongst salespeople that are supposed to be like a family is counter productive and causes issues and tension with in the department
    - If you have a favorite, that's fine. Just don't make it obvious.

    Pros

Hard work pays off if you are constantly selling, managers are great, and great work life balance for young professionals.

    Cons

Department drama at times and working on commission can be tough.

    Advice to Management

Department managers need to stay on top of their team's performance.

    Pros

    Fun working with clients.
    Great coaching.
    Looks good on your resume.
    Commission based paid.

    Cons

    No permanent works schedule.
Commission based pay is great during the busy seasons, but when its slow you suffer.
On your feet all day (but this is true for any retail position).

    Advice to Management

I think it would be better if employees were paid commission on top of a salary. This would encourage people to see Nordstrom as a career and not a job making sales associates into sales professionals.

    Pros

Great company culture, respectful of employees, they see you as a valuable employee, great pay for an internship, lots of great experiences, open door policy.

    Cons

The customers can be very high-maintence, but most customers are fun, easy to work with.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend more training POS systems. I found it difficult to handle customer issues sometimes because I was not trained efficiently in the POS systems.

    Pros

    -Great with environment
-No limits to the amount of commission you can make
    -Easy interview process
-Easy transition to any partner companies (nordstrom rack or hautelook)
    -Promote from within

    Cons

-Little freedom to actually "run your business" unless you're a personal stylist. You may use all tips even if they don't work for you to attract customers
    -Customer appointments depict business

    Pros

There is a 30% off employee discount in the women's department, not sure if this goes for all departments
You can increase you pay per hour with the commission set-up.

    Cons

There are some employees who get jealous if you're doing well, it happened to me. Sometimes other employees irritate the customers by being annoying and fake.

    Advice to Management

Be respectful of employees. Some managers feel as though they are superior and speak down to employees.
