    I worked at Nokia Networks

    Pros

International presence helps diversify the business.
Still good brand name in Nokia.
Very good people at working levels

    Cons

    Lack of clear direction.
Product quality and content lags competition.
    Short term focus.
    Wasted opportunities.
    No carrot, only sticks.
Missing a strong, charismatic leadership team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean up the leadership teams. Remove the posers, the disconnected, the despots, and the excessive arrogant.
Truly believe, recognize, and respect the value of the working teams.
Avoid forcing too many global efficiency actions especially when they are half-baked.
    Celebrate something, anything.
Review HR practices and objectives as they are getting more disconnected from the reality of the industry and the company culture/environment. Performance reviews based on Rank & Yank should be reconsidered. Stop following others and lead the way.

    Pros

Good working environment. Right startegies and plan in place to grow in areas of focus. Great experience to work for a company like NSN.

    Cons

Ongoing restrusturing resulting in employee uncertainities. To many complicted internal processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Move on to the next phase with stronger focus on improving market presence and market share

I have been working at Nokia Networks

    Pros

Can be a good place to gain some experience. Compensation and benefits can be better than the competition in mature markets.

    Cons

Organization is biased in favor of young white, northern European males, particularly those from Finland and to a lessor degree from Germany. Job requirements as well as performance measures are not applied to this group.

Likewise product development is very Euro-centric, presenting problems for implementation elsewhere.

There is almost no real skill in services management. Project and program management are extremely immature.

Few standard objective measures set by management.

There has been a criminal investigation of corruption and wrong doing in the ex-Siemens operations. There continue to be struggles with anti-corruption and ethics.

It is a company of administrators, not leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start pushing down authority to an appropriate level and hold managers accountable for financial performance, within ethical constraints.

I have been working at Nokia Networks full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Culture. Everyone respects each other.
    - Access to cutting edge technologies and enormous opportunity for any innovations.
    - Hard work will be recognized and will reflect on the paycheck.
    - Not much politics, if u contribute you grow. Have an idea? You will have avenues to showcase.
    - Excellent work life balance. No strict timings.

    Cons

    - No freebies. Tea coffee tastes like drainage. No free lunch or snacks. No sodexos too.
    - In the name of cost cutting, they cut down everything from beverages to daily allowance if you travel onsite.
    - Although salary packages are decent, there is nothing great to ride home.
    - Lazy and incompetent finance team. They make terrible mistakes even while crediting your salary and u need to keep following up with a hundred emails.
    - Infrastructure needs to scale up. It feels like working in some railway station with so many people on the floor. Seating arrangements need drastic improvements along with other office supplies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Share the profits. Company is a Classic example of the saying, rich are getting richer and poor poorer!( almost ) .

I have been working at Nokia Networks full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work life balance, Job is task based not time based so you get chance to work life balance. Pays reasonably well, upto or better than market rate

    Cons

Open Work space doesn't always work for team cohesion, though it may tend to suggest better & equal respect for everyone.

Former Employee - Human Resources Manager in London, England (UK)

I worked at Nokia Networks full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary, remote working if wished, benefits, interesting work

    Cons

Not always enough work. Constant up and downs as to whether the stuff I was working on was core business or not. Massive downsizing periodically which was only implemented actively in countries where it was easy to fire people. Specifically Germany seemed to take ages to lose people and they all got monster packages
