Great people and a very positive environment.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Toronto, ON

I worked at Nestlé

Pros- Great people
- Supportive Environment
- Employee Store

ConsBack in 2008-2009, office computer were a bit outdated. However upgrades were in the works - it simply takes time to upgrade in such a large organization.

a nice company to work for, but they need to step up their game to be successful

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Nestlé full-time for more than a year

Prosgenerally good work/life balance, nice culture, generally decent pay and benefits, global company with large brands

Consmediocre/poor people stay and end up getting promoted; extremely slow in making decisions; lack of innovation (tends to launch me-too products), lack of support for brands, many people in senior positions do not deserve the salaries they are making

Advice to Senior Managementpromote people based on their work and skill set, not who they know; invest more in marketing

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Co-op at Nestle Waters, Guelph

Continuous Improvement Student (Former Employee)
Guelph, ON

I worked at Nestlé as a contractor for less than a year

ProsHaving employing pricing on every Nestle product. You have to go to one of their Nestle stores to buy stuff. All the operators there are very friendly and helpful. You will have a great time working with them!

ConsPay is really low, and you are on salary. So it means they can make you work tons of overtime without paying you. The management team there is very disorganized. You are always pressured to perform.

Very nice place to work

Product Manager (Current Employee)
Vevey (Switzerland)

I have been working at Nestlé full-time for more than 8 years

ProsAlthough it depends a lot on the management, people are generally well considered and taken care of
The salary given by the company is quite good
The location of the headquarter is in a nice and quiet small city by the lake, beautiful landscape around

ConsPolitical games don't always benefit to the company
If you don't know people, you don't get things done
Due to the sheer size of the company, many inefficient processes and people reduce the productivity of the teams

Advice to Senior ManagementThe lack of trust from management is badly affecting the motivation of the people
One can't get everything, we can indeed reduct staff however trying to do much more with much less resources/budget generates confusion and chaos

Good food, no life.

Project Manager (Former Employee)
Vevey (Switzerland)

I worked at Nestlé full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat products, lots of opportunity, multicultural work experience, good pay, great facilities. They expect a lot but you get a lot in return.

ConsExcessive travel, jet lag, scope management. Your success depends on who you are friends with.. It's like a giant school yard sometimes. Women not generally present in senior executive roles.

Advice to Senior ManagementLose some of the corporate arrogance.. Being one of the biggest doesn't make you right.

Stop The Intern "Flood"

Team Leader (Current Employee)
Sacramento, CA (US)

I have been working at Nestlé full-time for more than 10 years

ProsStable company in regards to finances. Good benefits and decent work life balance.

ConsAlmost 100% of promotions come from Interns. Employees with tenure are overlooked for promotion and jobs given to Interns hired for the fast track program. Nestle Purina is requiring BA degrees for all positions, even for sales reps who are basically merchandisers

Advice to Senior ManagementYour Interns are NOT the only talent to promote from. Your Interns tend not to stay to long with this company after they get that promotion. The company wants their employees to compete and often climb on their fellow employees to get that promotion

"Good Company, Good Learning Experience"

Business Analyst (Former Employee)

I worked at Nestlé full-time for less than a year

Pros• Global company, with an extremely strong reputation and culture.
• Full responsibility from day 1.
• Strong commitment to invest in Training & Development
• Clear career path, that adapts to one’s desires.
• Extremely healthy work environment between peers, co-workers, and superiors.

ConsNestlé has a strong political environment - too much, at least, for my personal taste. I consider myself a results-oriented person who strongly believes in meritocracy, however, at Nestlé networking or knowing the right people can sometimes help you more than sticking to the hard-work philosophy.
