I have been working at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company leaders talk about values and serving the under served.
Many jobs do not require any education therefore no glass ceilings for people without college degrees.
New employees love Molina - they are paid fairly, they believe in the Molina lip-service, they haven't been exposed to the incompetent FOM's(friends of Molina). Great place to get some experience then go to a "real" company.

    Cons

Compensation is not transparent and external candidates are treated better than internal candidates - the disparity between the two continues.
They are a fortune 500 family run company with many "FOM"s - Friend of Molina. The FOM's are untouchable - generally not qualified to do whatever position they are in and simply another layer of nonsense.
It is a top heavy company where the Peter Principal is apparent at every turn.
Advancement opportunities require relocation to Long Beach, CA

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring your unqualified friends into position of influence. Allow autonomy of decision making for leaders outside of the corporate structure. Your idea of centralized functions has created the worst of both worlds, you have teams in one location being supervised by managers in another state, poor performance should be addressed and because you surround yourself with FOM's so you have no awareness that "The Emperor has no clothes". So much waste in your management structure.

I have been working at Molina Healthcare (more than a year)

    Pros

Friendly Staff, Flexible Scheduling, Small Quiet Office

    Cons

Low Employee Morale, Not Much Room for Growth, Micromanaging

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want a leader who is not knowledgeable, constantly gives inaccurate information, tries to find fault in any action you make or question you have, gossips, micromanages, is a habitual liar, has poor communication and only involves staff on a need-to-know basis (which pertains to almost everything you may need to know), and who will make every effort to get you into trouble if she doesn't like you then this is the job for you. Don't expect upper management or HR to listen to your concerns because they will back up the each other, even when someone is wrong and will somehow blame the employee for it.

It doesn't matter how hard the employee works, don't expect much appreciation. Management expects you to contribute to a positive environment but they won't make the same contribution. Expect to be paid a lot less than the amount you should get paid, especially considering the amount of work that you do. You may not see the wickedness at first, but give it a few months... eventually the claws will come out. I have no desire to work for the management team or at this location ever again. Perhaps your talent will be more appreciated somewhere else.

I have been working at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is the opportunity to learn, always working with new technology, good benefits, decent pay

    Cons

The culture is really disjointed. A lot of nepatism in promoting and the lack of accountability is atrocious. EIS was reorganized for the better, however the ones that lead this failed in everyway to deliver, they failed to define the group roles and responsibilities, individual roles and responsibilities and one director in charge of new technology and refining current processes has completely abandoned the company altogether. Hasn't produced anything in two years and got promoted to boot!! They actually read a book to try and manage their way out of the very issue they created. Managers all promoted themsleves, meanwhile leaving the rest without titles for two years. Mgmt did a real job selling the reorganization, now it is up to them to step up and lead which is NOT what they do so there really is no hope in success. The only success will be to let them all go and hire in talented experienced leaders who can lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take all the VPs, AVPs and directors of each group, sit them down and tell them they all need to work together, define what each group owns and is accountable for, make them accountable to run their teams better. Make them lead, make them actually perform as managers which is a foreign concept. Get a better handle on project mgmt and cost mgmt. Task each leader with efficiency matrix to make their groups more efficient. It should not take 35 people to respond to a sev 1 incident and take more than two weeks to resolve. No work life balance. with no real maintenance structure in place, changes will be made every night and weekend. In addition, sonce the new Operations team cannot staff properly and inept non-technical manages leading, they always have to call skilled engineers to bail them out. No rest or time off. The hipocracy will drive one insane.
