I have been working at Memphis Light full-time for more than 5 years

ProsLow pressure, good coworkers, a lot of knowledgeable people available for support.

Great benefits to go with average pay.

ConsHave to deal with government rules and regulations.

Lot of bureaucracy to deal with. Approval sometimes required by both board and city council.

Little to no raises in last several years.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsThey do a good job of providing continuing education oppertunities. Very stable company where you don't have to worry about losing your job.

ConsThings move very slow and employees are against any type of change. Every major decision has to get approval from city council.

Good, not great place to work

I worked at Memphis Light full-time for more than 5 years

ProsCo-workers are awesome to work with. Work live balance is great, no overtime necessary.

ConsNo upward mobility, lack of training. Slow pace environment not for the young at heart. RFP process is horribly, it takes entirely to long to make a inform decision.

ProsGreat benefits with lots of vacation time. Relatively steady job with average pay for the Memphis area.

ConsEvery time I tell people where I work I recieve groans and grimaces. Known more for its corrupt politics than anything.
