    Pros

Great place to work , fair, level headed management, decent comp and generally good opportunities. Each business unit doss have it unique culture within the company.

    Cons

I was career grid locked at Physio-Control. The company has placed a transfer band on moving out of Physio to insure staff stay until such time as the decision to sell spin or not is finalized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a decision on the status of Physio-Control. It can represent an opportunity if integrated into a cardio-vascular strategy.

I have been working at Medtronic full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Salary & Benefits
    Opportunities
Ethical Management that tries to do the right thing.

    Cons

    Very political
    Annual restructuring which is stressful
You must control your own career - they offer no guidance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the annual restructuring. It's distracting and anxiety provoking.
Hunt down those managers that are poor and remove them. This is a huge blind spot.

    Wonderful Company

    I worked at Medtronic

    Pros

Great benefits, respectful management, good people on my team. These were truly the best years of my life. I can't recommend them enough. And when they decided to re-locate the office they were VERY fair and generous to us. They offered to pay re-location expenses if we chose to move and gave a very generous severance package to those who remained behind. If I didn't have family considerations, I would have stayed and moved with them.

    Cons

You have to be willing to work hard. You need to have a sense of urgency and initiative. If you're looking for a lackadaisical 9-5 this won't work for you. If you aren't willing to contribute your ideas and efforts you won't advance, But then I wouldn't expect you to think you would.
