I have been working at Meditech full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Large knowledge base and very approachable staff.
-Team oriented, with multiple areas for advancement.
-Fast paced environment, but can be slow for professional growth.
-Many different options for work from technical software analysis, interpersonal client management, facilities management, or programming.(what do you want to do?)
-Long term benefits are great (full health, increasing bonuses with tenure, 3 weeks vacation after 2 years, maternity leave, paternity leave, great people to work with)
    -Important clinical solutions for hospitals
-Dynamic nature to the software with new releases often, new opportunities to learn
-Great summer party, and holiday days off.

    Cons

    -Slow professional and monetary growth
-Demanding or abusive customers are not common, but are normal
-Not a well organized knowledge base system, but can be learned and added to
-High workload for regular shift hours
    -High turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management teams, especially supervisors, need to be more connected with their workforce to help promote sincere conversation. Hard work can go unrecognized, and compensatory benefits are not based performance, but tenure. As the culture is geared to long term employment, the goal to maintain a happy work force should include greater interaction between supervisory and management levels, with sound strategy to address staff complaints. The turn over rate during my first two years there have been 19 hired, and 12 lost. Over 50% turn over describes the difficulty of the job, as well as the quality of hire. I do not believe it is possible for management to stop all instances, but it is difficult to see the incentives to stay within the company.

I have been working at Meditech

    Pros

Bonus, profit sharing, flex days, buildings

    Cons

Pay, Profit Sharing (diminishing percentage), all eggs in one basket concept (which is starting to be recognized with lower raises, profit sharing, stock value.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remain more competitive with others. The technologies upcoming look promising, but it is already what other major competitors are exploring and in many cases already starting to do. New products need to be out already and proven. Identify more growth potential in positions, which is nearly flat. Provide more consistency with promotions as many divisions folks continue to get title promotions, but in other divisions promotions are very difficult to come by,. Be more aggressive with new 6.1 as this needs to be proven and out there in marketplace now, its somewhat concerning that we're banking on this working and has yet to go LIVE with beta sites.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Meditech

    Pros

Benefits are good but not out of the ordinary for a large company. The experience is worthwhile but advancement is highly competitive due to the completely internalized workforce.

    Cons

Meditech is well known for low salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Meditech full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

To be honest I actually cannot think of any real pros to this company except for the annual company picnic but even that with free lobster doesn't make up for how poor a job this company does at retaining and helping its employees

    Cons

This company does a very poor a job at retaining and helping its employees and does not care about the talent someone possesses but rather just on the number of years at the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring from within and stop looking down at employees who utilize the services you provide and decide to continue their education to better themselves and actually progress in life and want to bring new ideas to old company set in its ways

    Pros

Yearly bonus, above average salary increases every year, no one gets laid off... ever

    Cons

Not an agile, cutting edge company. It's a conservative company at heart that has steadily been growing for many years. It doesn't take many risks, and neither do the employees take many risks in their work.

I have been working at Meditech

    Pros

Job security. The company has never had a layoff. It recently dissolved a whole department but found places within the organization for everyone.
Culture is generally friendly and accommodating.
Seldom required to work after hours.

    Cons

    Low pay.
Boastful of benefits package, but it's comparable to, or worse than, most tech jobs.
    Poor training.
While the culture is friendly and forgiving, it tends to breed mediocrity in staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve training, provide clearer avenues of advancement, pay your employees more, and understand the kinds of cultures and benefits that make up a tech company in the 21st century.
