    This company is improving.

Decline to Answer (Current Employee) Portland, OR (US)

ProsCurrent IT technology and continuing investment to stay current. Office is beautiful. Open, bright, lots of windows and skylights. very nice facility. Excellent Pet care benefits. Pay and bonus structure seems pretty fair and is weighted to account for individual, team and company performance metrics.

ConsHuman care benefits are terrible. High deductible health plan makes it very expensive to get sick or just go to the doctor. Undesireable neighborhood office location. As many people commute long distances, the company has still not embraced work from home or telecommute options widely nor has it instituted a 4-10 workday policy for appropriate job descriptions. There still seems to be an underlying attitude of mistrust of the employees opinions. Management wants the feedback but may or may not listen when the time comes to make a decision.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou'll get more loyalty from your people if you offer better health care benefits. We know you are working on it...

Team members are of little or no value to management

Manager (Former Employee) Seattle, WA (US)

Prosgood for entry level into veterinary medicine. Veterinarians are given great compensation in both salary and perks. Even poor quality DVM canidates are given oppertunity to practice medicine.

ConsManagement allows the DVM to be dictators and manage hospitals with little or no experience. many of the the DVMs in the market are not actually doing the work that they say they are doing, but rather have the team members completing the treatments and records. This organization does not hire the best people in the field for support team, but rather want to train those that come from other industries. There are few licensed Techs working for Banfield. Banfield allows team members to perform treatments and services on pets without any formal training or licensing.

Advice to Senior ManagementCareful attention to the character and ethics of the DVMs. Train DVMs in good management and hold them accountable for bad treatment of team members. Treat the team members with more respect and understand their value.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
