I worked at McAfee full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The pay was great, the work was interesting, the managers actually managed people not just projects, the culture was geared towards a good work life balance.

    Cons

The hours could be long when called for, but they were very good about making up for it with relaxed hours and/or comp time afterwards.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

In terms of satisfaction, McAfee is by far the best company that I have worked for. I have worked for other security companies as well as contracting organizations and McAfee's culture, work-life balance and personnel are some of the best in North America.

    Cons

Promotions have come based on the effort that I have put into the job and I have received much personal growth as a result of my effort. I have no CONS to consider at this time.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good learning opportunities
Push for innovation is good for the company in the longer run
    Compensation package

    Cons

Work-life balance in some teams is non-existent due to aggressive deadlines.
    Politics in some teams.
Recognition might go to some seniors even if team has played a huge role in success of a project
    Seasonal lay-offs typically during December

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be good if team politics can be kept at bay.

Great opportunities for advancement. Senior management more focused on bookings targets than profitability.

I worked at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent compensation and benefits. Great opportunities for advancement. Poised to capture additional market share.

    Cons

Some antiquated back office systems make it very difficult to gain insight into the business. Surprising lack of focus on profitability and cash flow (bookings oriented). Matrix management causes lack of accountability and an inability for senior management to make decisions.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice facilities (gym, cafe, game room). Small enough of a company to know many people by name. Large enough that you're always meeting someone new. Lots of employee events are organized for their enjoyment and team building.

    Cons

Too many org changes recently have left people unsettled.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There's a gym on-site and a decent cafeteria. They have really fast internet access in the office.

    Cons

Systems are just archaic: BI and data are a joke: wireless internet access is a mess inside building; dunces are in mid-level mgmt and up positions. No one is empowered to make decisions that are new and breakthrough. It's just an awful place to be. Don't do it. This is a declining business. Security might be "hot" but not this company. If you're interviewing ask the hiring mgrs how much has the company invested in innovation and research? All the profits go into sales. The "president" is a geriatric man that's completely out of touch with accounts, industry, technology. He thinks he can BS his way in anything. Hey, it's worked so far--only thing is the market has changed. No women in any meaningful positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire 50%+ of your directors, senior directors, VPs and C-staff.
Hire new talent external to the company.
Hire some executive women--no not executive admins.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
