Not what it used to be

I worked at McAfee full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent office space. Nice cafeteria. Nice little gym.

    Cons

Talent is leaving this company in droves. Management has changed dramatically to the worse.

I have been working at McAfee full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There's a gym on-site and a decent cafeteria. They have really fast internet access in the office.

    Cons

Systems are just archaic: BI and data are a joke: wireless internet access is a mess inside building; dunces are in mid-level mgmt and up positions. No one is empowered to make decisions that are new and breakthrough. It's just an awful place to be. Don't do it. This is a declining business. Security might be "hot" but not this company. If you're interviewing ask the hiring mgrs how much has the company invested in innovation and research? All the profits go into sales. The "president" is a geriatric man that's completely out of touch with accounts, industry, technology. He thinks he can BS his way in anything. Hey, it's worked so far--only thing is the market has changed. No women in any meaningful positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire 50%+ of your directors, senior directors, VPs and C-staff.
Hire new talent external to the company.
Hire some executive women--no not executive admins.

I have been working at McAfee full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people, flexible working, good physical environment. Some good ideas coming if only they will get the chance to develop before being managed into oblivion.

    Cons

Incessant pointless reorganisation means you're always unsure whether you'll still be there next month. Anticipating the annual arbitrary staff reduction doesn't fill you with enthusiasm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Prune out the huge number of VPs SVPs Directors Managers that have no useful purpose and then stop reorganising.

I worked at McAfee full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

donuts on Fridays, training reimbursement, stock options, great health ins

    Cons

training is superficial, too many products to work if on the LTAM team, no opportunity to specialize if on the LTAM team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

dont let LTAM handle its own hiring, and dont heavily rely on contractors as managers tend to treat them as disposable specially in tier I
