I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent, but definitely depends on your hiring manager. The facility is very nice and has a nice cafe The computer provided was a dell and the IT dept. helps very quickly with any technical issues. The culture depends on the organization and the managing executive for that particular org. Overall people leave work at 5, and that's expected.

    Cons

Executive leadership is really bad. It's a good ole' boys' club which disgusts many of the employees. Upper management is viewed as being less than sincere and it's hurting morale across the board. Intel has now accelerated the process of swallowing the wholly owned subsidiary and there is so much change going on, the instability is demotivating. At least 2 rounds of layoffs a year and raises are slim to none.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being sexist, stop promoting unqualified people for personal reasons (i.e. giving jobs to people that kiss up to you or happen to look a certain way) and realize that the people are what make the company ...so worry about morale and take the employee survey seriously. Stop spending outrageous amounts of money on executive entertainment and compensate your people.

    Pros

If you need a job it pays the bills

    Cons

IT management has no direction. Instead of fixing problems they look for people to blame. Will work you till you drop and don't care.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible with work schedule as long as you contribute. Good teams and very open environment: you can send an email to anyone and get answers without lots of unnecessary red-tape. Inside your team your input is valued. There has been tremendous work in defining better processes and to improve product development cycles. Nice people work there, so working in the office is comfortable. Compensation is fair.

    Cons

Very reduced possibilities to grow professionally. Moving to different teams is overly complicated and not really encouraged. Few opportunities to learn: It is more of a "apply what you know" type of work. Not much job security as there is a constant round of layoffs and people being shuffled around to the project that is "hot right now".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions are really hard to earn. There is a "carrer path", but it is really difficult to see it happen outside of the India office. Wage increments are below inflation, so we are earning less than we did the previous year.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation, Intel Stock Options, work life balance (shut down week of thanksgiving for the past three years). Extra days off 4th of July holiday. Great products with an awesome vision. Training bonus (they pay you to invest in yourself) As long as you hit your numbers or your MBO then management will not be riding you. If you don't, well thats another story. (but that is anywhere in sales). Since being acquired by Intel, the push is still there for great quarterly and yearly revenue but there is no more "street" to report quarterly earnings too. Gives great flexibility when it comes to going for the "big sales win"

    Cons

Would like to have the benefits of Intel and their 100K employees instead of McAfee's benefits. (they are still good but there is better out there) . Had some turn over this year but looks to have settled. This caused some uncertainty inside McAfee but those who stayed continued to focus and help drive solid growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay focused, continue to invest in employees and solutions and strive to be #1

    Pros

Pleasant culture and admirable work ethic across the board. Good benefits and overall employee appreciation.

    Cons

None per se, but as always the security industry can be an ever-changing landscape and what is vital knowledge one day can become obsolete the next.

I worked at McAfee full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Really great sales environment and co-workers. Good challenging atmosphere and great incentives.

    Cons

Poor salary, some field sales didn't do the job like I would expect from professionals. Weaker personalities, although great sales persons which are in the 10% best, got their targets adapted (to much higher targets), so the company didn't have to pay the before agreed targets, so not really a fair treatment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read the cons and act correspondingly to take out this misuse of power.
