Former Employee – worked at McAfee
Pros – Work load is OK and you'll get pay raises and bonuses if the division you're working on performs well. So work hard!
Cons – If you are not working in a core product division, they may eliminate the whole division when it does not make much profit.
Advice to Senior Management – If you work hard and you have good relationship with your top manager, you may get promotion. Most of the managers are nice and easy going...

Pros – The benefits package is great as well as the stock grants and stock options. There is also a fair amount of opportunity to advance in your career within the company.
Cons – It can be difficult at times to collaborate on projects across different geographical regions and greatly different time zones. Even though most speak the English language, it can still be difficult to understand.
Advice to Senior Management – I think we should simplify our current portfolio of software application offerings to cut down on confusion and reduce overlap. McAfee All Access is a great start and if we could align our portfolio under that common name, I think brand recognition would greatly increase.

Former Employee – worked at McAfee
Pros – People and work experience are at the top of the list. The quotas were not set up to reward performance. If it wasn't for those reasons, I would have left sooner.
Cons – Everything. The management there was clueless and didn't know how to make quotas for the sales field. Everything was set up to fail.
Advice to Senior Management – Get a clue. Take a management course and learn how to work with employees. Structure comp plans accordingly and you'll lose less people.

Former Employee – worked at McAfee
Pros – *market competitive salary
*good benefits
*global team
Cons – *Extremely political within the organization, lots of drama between management all the way up and also within departments.
*Work life balance is horrible with some divisions - employees work 12-15 hour days, 7 days a week. It's a sweat shop for those who love to work. This is from an Engineering organization perspective.
*Team does not communicate when there are changes implemented to virtual team and then when errors are made, that group is reprimanded.
*There is a lack of team collaboration and cooperativeness. Everyone is fending for themselves to survive.
*Very poor management. Some managers are inflexible, back-stabbing, and out-right condescending towards employees and individual contributors.
*Mid-level managers micro-manages or likes to mis-manage employees.
*I've seen incidents where they would fire people or force them out for really no apparent reason. Most of the time, it's a political game and challenge.
Overall; it was a horrible experience. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a job.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – The staff are great and generally all work well together. He office is a new remodel and is open and encourages collaboration. They are trying to encourage and offer internal training.
Cons – Sr executives and mid level executives are changing from progressive and positive startup type attitudes to traditional corporate types. We care about you but have to let you go, cut travel costs but we still travel and stay at the best places.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop the old school management style and come ino the 21st century. If you talk the talk then walk the walk.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Decent pay
Flexi timings
Minor perks such as a one-off bonus, outings etc
Cons – No Stock Options (read RSUs) after Intel acquired
Has lot of old-timers who have clung on their job for life and they yield a lot of authority
Values domain-experts over technical-experts
No work from home options for "some" people.
Advice to Senior Management – Having managers who have domain knowledge is OK but most managers here lack communication skills..secondly most middle-level managers are Sunnyvale followers..they simply lack conviction and they do not want to change with times.. ala old fashioned babus! Please pay attention to manager's soft skills as well and secondly try to mould technical experts into functional experts.

Former Employee – worked at McAfee
Pros – It is possible to make good money at McAfee. There are some talented people working there. Some of their products are market leaders.
Cons – Senior management has no accountability. Change of focus and direction throwing the entire organization into chaos happens often. Regardless of performance it is difficult to advance unless you have connections to senior management. Benefits are below average.
Advice to Senior Management – Intel needs to move in and take over day to day management.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Good pay, great management, positive changes, good benefits, flexible work schedule, investment in training
Cons – So much to do that you end up feeling the need to work a lot of hours to be succesful. Hard to get promoted even if you are getting stellar ratings.
Advice to Senior Management – Make tough deisions to let people go that aren't even meeting minimum goals, seems unfair to others. Get the right amount of people for the job, unrealistic expectations wear on people when they can't succeed.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Very good HR policies in Market. HR and management very supportive to employee well being and concerns. Salaries are at par.
Cons – with growth, loosing its focus. No one knows whats going on..
The talent pool seriously needs to be refilled as most of the good people are leaving for greener pastures due to unfair promotions
Advice to Senior Management – Watch for the real performers and weed out the parasites who earn a name for themselves based on someone else performance. Dont wait for someone to quit before offering him everyhting.
