Generally well intentioned people but like anywhere else, this depends on who you report to.

I have been working at Legacy Health System full-time

    Pros

I've worked with some great people who assumed good intentions and were committed to delivering exceptional care. There are are many long-term employees who like working for Legacy. Since it is just big enough (although not a Providence Health), there are opportunities to expand your career once you get to know people. I would recommend working here.

    Cons

Like anywhere else you work, your job satisfaction will depend on how supportive your leader is. It can be big enough where there is breakdown in communication and coordination of resources. Also, the hospitals all have different organizational cultures. Pay can often be less than local healthcare competitors for non-clinical jobs. Medical/dental benefits cannot compare to Kaiser.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't keep trying to do too much with stretched resources. Do keep listening to employee feedback.

I have been working at Legacy Health System

    Pros

Stable work environment and flexible schedule. 401k match.

    Cons

Be sure to negotiate your salary up front or you will get stuck creeping along at a dismal 3% for the rest of your time in the job classification. Compensation is not merit based, so you have to be self-motivated.Due to budget cuts a few years back, they expect a lot out of each employee- so be ready to bring your A game all day every day. Tried to get re-classed as my workload and responsibilities changed significantly and does not reflect the job title, but was told no.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider merit based pay or a livable wage increase - .20-.30 a year doesn't stretch very far. Don't forget the worker bees, we all work hard for our money even though we don't have RN or MD after our names.

I worked at Legacy Health System full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As it was a research job, the hours were fairly flexible and the benefits were good. The people were great and had a sense of satisfaction with the work they were doing.

    Cons

Smaller research institution, so the grant funding was not as significant as other larger institutions. This mean that the pool of projects to work on was limited, as well as their scope.

I worked at Legacy Health System full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

None - terrible place to work.

    Cons

Extremely poor management. Not well trained. Treat employees very badly. Hostile work environment. No accountability for poor management. Evaluations based on hearsay and not facts. No system set up to provide information to upper management that would be taken seriously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire mid managers with experience in health care and sit down and really listen to the employees. Take them seriously instead of treating them as if they are not valuable. This type of management will eventually sink this company.

I have been working at Legacy Health System full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great office culture. Compensation good.

    Cons

Current management is not connected to staff. Working environment is not appropriate for volume of patients being run through. Patients being added without consideration of appropriate time on schedule. Employees continually working through lunch and breaks to accommodate volume. Management aware of working environment but looking at dollar amount producing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is being hired according to degree, with no attention to "people skills". Management has no idea what goes on if office except what is told to them and then management only relays to upper management what they want known. A lot of management is in over their head and this shows.
