Great Company, Terrible Management

ProsGreat HR department and benefits. Everyone below the Executive level were wonderful to work for and with.

ConsLow pay. Bad executive management. Hollow words, never fulfilling their promises or living up to the values and ideals that they preached. Preached about an employee-centric mentality with "people are our most important asset" when in the end they were just like any other executives, greedy and only out for themselves financially.

Advice to Senior ManagementPractice what you preach....

Great people, not great pay.

ProsWonderful work environment. Great team members and fun place to work. The culture was a big focus and the efforts to build and sustain it were obvious and genuine.

ConsSalaries are below market standards with no opportunity for increase even when assuming a higher position. Requests for compensation to meet the current standard of living were ignored and/or not taken reviewed as promised. Many great employees left for this reason.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow that you value your employees with proper compensation as well as verbal appreciation.

Worst place to work in hospitality.

ProsFront desk employees are friendly and know how to run the hotel.
You get to meet amazing long term guests and network.

ConsManagement doesn't know how to there job. Sales team over books hotel 2-3 times out of the week. If you work 2-10pm shift good luck getting a lunch break and you work alone maintaining the hotel with one laundry person. Constantly cutting hours. You can't speak up about problems in the work space because you could get fired for bringing it up.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to do your job than delegating your duties to other departments.
Appreciate your staff because they are the ones running your hotel.
Make sure all employees get a lunch break.

It was a finacially rewarding working experience working with this company.

ProsVery accessible due to availabilities of alternative means of transportation like train, public passenger buses and shuttle buses. Company also gives yearly bonus and salary increases to deserving employees.

ConsFor maintenance purposes, there is no suitable space to perform effective maintenance/repair works. The workshop is too small and ill-equipped for that purpose. Also, the company does not implement a continuous training for maintenance people to keep them abreast of new technologies.

Advice to Senior ManagementImplement the long delayed on-line trouble shooting guide for maintenance people.

ProsGreat company with great values. They know how to treat employees and really how to retain talent. Would recommend to anyone.

ConsSmall, and willing to sell assets to grow. Growth within the compant at this time is slow, but will continue to grow.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you are doing, but don't forget about the lower people on the totem pole, they care about the company too.
