I have been working at Lafarge North America part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

good benifits , lots of experiance on different heavy equipment, opertunity to try new things. chance to work with lots of different people.

    Cons

some employees are treated different then other employees. foremans would sooner put more work on employees then have to do there job by getting the employee who was asked to do the job to do it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you are in the position you are it is up to you to do your job to the best of your ability. if you are afraid of confrintation you should maybe think about a different career. do not lie to the employees about what is going on, just tell them the truth so that way there can be no rumours or false thinking by the employees. thanks in advance.

I worked at Lafarge North America

    Pros

They do try to support best practices, a lot of surveys,at the same time a lot of red tape.

    Cons

They seem to have not listened to the small customer and put to many eggs in the big customers basket. There is a place there for another small supplier to get started. You could charge more money for prompt service, it costs small companies a lot of money to pay 4 or 5 guys to wait around to get service.

Former Employee - Financial Analyst in Southfield, MI (US)

I worked at Lafarge North America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There are not alot of pros any longer. This company is going downhill fast.

    Cons

Management is horrible, benefits are continually being taken away, CEO is selfish jerk who is slowly putting the same horrible leadership underneath him, managers work long hours and out of touch with reality, company says they are health and safety focused but that is far from the truth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have no clue how to reach employees. Stop taking benefits away. Stop putting managers in charge that have no family and life outside of work. You are pushing all your good people out the door because you put people in management that have no business managing people.
