    Pros

Kratos PSS is a good company for access control and CCTV integration. I worked there for 6 years and met and worked with some great people. The projects that I worked on were all over the country and were primarily for the USMC. As a veteran it was a pleasure to support our troops in a way that made a significant difference in their ability to perform realistic and meaningful training.

    Cons

Kratos is a very large corporation and it is easy to get lost so far as corporate attention to its smaller branches. The PSS branch is a tight knit organization that has to subordinate itself to the corporate goals even if they do not promote branch growth.

    Advice to Management

Continue to take care of your people and they will take care of you. Do not ignore the lower management suggestions that can make a big difference in profitability.

    Pros

    Inside work no heavy lifting

    Cons

Stuck in the past. Most notable quote: "Thats not the way we did it before"

    Advice to Management

Lay off the compliant yes men and keep the competent people. Not vice versa.

Company does not compensate it's employees equally and places value of certain positions over others.

I worked at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions

    Pros

The company is mostly relaxed. There are never really any crisis moments that you are expected to put in an insane amount of extra time. Most of the people working there are good people.

    Cons

Many of the challenges involve the dangling carrot philosophy. Management hangs the idea of upward movement and promises of bigger and better things in the future just out of reach. When you reach the supposed goal required to move you forward, the carrot is dangled just a little further out. Also, management values certain job titles/positions over others and shows clear favoritism for people in those positions.

    Advice to Management

My basic advice to management would be that at some point, the carrot had to be reachable. If the carrot is always dangled out of reach, people are going to start looking for other companies that actually give their employees the chance to ascend the ladder. Also, showing blatant favoritism for a particular position in your workforce is guaranteed to divide your team and make employees look elsewhere for a better work environment. All employees should be treated fairly and equally. Employees should be compensated based on their value to the company, not just because they are in a position management already shows favoritism to.

    Pros

    It is in business still.

    Cons

Company does not have experience with big projects and their operational budget is way too reduced. Thus, an insignificant variation in the schedule is taken as a catastrophe. Schedule is "the work philosophy."
However, when you are on the third or fourth tier and the project demands to control the tiers bellow you, which by the way have much more experience and have a lot of time in rodeos as this; then a crisis door is permanently open. It is now a battle in two fronts (upper and lower tiers). Perhaps the schedule is crushed (intentionally or unintentionally), then Kratos cannot stand the pressure. Even worst, when the operational budget depends on the success or not of another project... If as it happened, that project fails, then the whole organization suffers.

    Pros

Friendly group of people to work with.

    Cons

This place lacks proper training and support. There is no written procedures for many positions. Communication between management and workers very poor. People don't know how to do their jobs, but not because of lack of interest, it's lack of support and training. Management doesn't inform proper people when important changes are made throughout the company. They don't seem to care about their workers.

    Advice to Management

find out who needs to know important

    Pros

Interesting work and challenging. So many problems which need to be repaired. this keeps you busy and hopping all the time

    Cons

Management is weak. Great employees who want to excel at their jobs but know their hands are tied. they follow rules and processes without ever questioning right from wrong. Corporate believes employees are idiots and have previously stated that. Not much respect for lower-level employees. They are considered dispensable. Watch your back all the time and learn how to play the game. schmoozing is what it is all about.

    Advice to Management

Kratos looks bad with all of the hiring and firing to improve the appearance of SG & A. Hire the right people to get the job done properly and on time.
