Decent place to work, be careful of the politics

Electrical Engineer (Former Employee)
Jenks, OK (US)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 10 years

ProsDecent salary, lots of projects going on, benefits are good, coworkers help make it feel like a family environment.

ConsNot very clear on how to get raises and promotions, can get easily pigeonholed into a position. Management tends to tell you one thing in private, then acts a different way in public. Had many experiences with people going directly to senior leadership to get what they wanted done without ever asking their direct supervisor.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp work with the people on career development and advancement.

good place for a mechanical engineering co-op during undergraduate study

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark as an intern for more than a year

ProsI was able to learn and practice CAD skills and other practical engineering skills not learned directly at university. There are opportunities to work for several months in different locations in the U.S.

ConsEach mill and location has a different culture, and it can be a little lonely to be the only university-aged person at the location. There wasn't any formal instruction in SolidWorks or AutoCAD where I first worked so it was fairly tedious at first.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep in touch with employees at all locations. In Neenah, WI, it is fairly common to see the CEO, but it would be nice if managers of sectors had a little more contact and explained business goals.

kimberley clark ruined my life and forced me to quit and not be able to find another job.

Material Handler (Former Employee)
Ogden, UT (US)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 3 years

Prosgood pay,benefits,and double time sundays

Consway too much overtime in the summer can not enjoy summer because you ar always woking at least five twelve hour shifts with only 24 hours off usually.

Advice to Senior Managementupper management needs to communicate better with employees and stop making rules and changes without telling the employees in advance. and fire tom falk and get a CEO that wont drive the company into the ground.

In the middle of experiment

Manager (Former Employee)
Moscow (Russia)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark full-time for less than a year

ProsGood product; a wish for changes in the company; global network of colaboration

ConsI was not convinced about the rightness of changes and methods of implementations.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to employees as opposed to arranging another unreadable intranet forum.

Working as a Consumer service representative

Consumer Service Representative (Current Employee)
Neenah, WI (US)

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIf you like a 9 to 5 position, this is nice. The company also offers summer hours. The job is not physically demanding, nor intellectually demanding, the tasks are pretty routine. Allows you to work on your patience (a great virtue) when dealing with consumers who contact you about trivial things.

ConsToo mundane, at least for me. Doesn't leave room for creativity. If you have a complaint about your position or you want something to change, you may not be successfull. Everything is standardized. No room for creativity.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more autonomy to the phone agents

Good as a stepping stone

Consultant (Former Employee)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe compensation and benefits package is good. There is good opportunity to learn new skills as there is always some change taking place.

ConsManagement does not put enough stock in feedback from the front-lines. Upper levels seem to be more concerned with public perception than creating meaningful solutions with internal process improvements.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop worrying about what "The Street" thinks and do what is right by your employees and customers. "The Street" will eventually come around.

Great company!

Project Leader (Former Employee)
Roswell, GA (US)

I worked at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 3 years

ProsChallenging environment - great place to work - pays well

ConsIn some areas, risk taking is not encouraged
Not a global company yet, too many silos still

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out of headquarters more and visit the regional offices more

Solid company

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Neenah, WI (US)

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark full-time for more than 7 years

ProsFantastic assembly of people, some of the most iconic brands in the world and, depending on what brand you work for, the ability to independently manage a large swath of the business

ConsLocation relative to other CPG companies is not optimal and for 2-3 brands the amount of layered over-staffing can be stifling.

Advice to Senior ManagementLess interference is better, however I've never worked at a company whose people, from the CEO to the Admin, had as much passion for what they do and so much personality doing it

Good company for people who have worked for a long time, but probably not a good place to start for fresh grads.

Process Improvement Assistant (Current Employee)
Bangkok (Thailand)

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark as a contractor for less than a year

Pros- Big PLUS for work-life balance
- Working environment is very casual (at least here in BKK)
- Colleagues are very welcoming and supportive of each other
- Good remuneration, salary is a little higher than the industry's standard

Cons- Relaxing environment can sometimes impede productivity
- Jobs are usually routinely and not very challenging
- Little room for career advancment

Advice to Senior ManagementBe a little more communicative with the workers.
