I worked at JDSU full-time for more than a year
Pros – Efficient and effective Senior management.
Profit driven and strong focus on CEO obejctive - BHAG II.
This is a clear vision that the entire company is moving forth.
Cons – US leadership failed to delegate authortiy down to APAC region, thus delaying key decisions and lack of understanding of Asian cultures.
Lack of processes and procedures, middle managemnt do not have insights and avoid taking up some roles and responsibilities that are not clearly defined.
Advice to Senior Management – Delegate a member from the senior leadership to station in Asian and lead the teams.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at JDSU full-time for more than a year
Pros – JDSU is a very open minded company, and flexible towards employees needs, it has also a good work life balance. The first level management is very knowledgeable and open minded as well. It is an engineering/technical company in the communication and optical arena, so technical knowledge is very appreciated
Cons – The company is very distributed among geographies and timezones, as a result sometimes it is difficult to find out who does what, it is in my opinion the problem of having a bit of a silos mentality
Advice to Senior Management – I would advise them to improve interaction among the different part of the company
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

I have been working at JDSU full-time
Pros – JDSU is a very advanced and dynamic organisation which is constantly adapting. Having previously worked for a very strictly regimented organisation, JDSU has been a breath of fresh air. The people are friendly, helpful and extremly supportive and all show an extremely realistic attitude. I would recommend JDSU to anyone willing and able to adapt to change and evolve with the company.
Cons – The only downsde to JDSU is its lack of consistency of process across its regions due to global legislation, etc, as well as during constant change. As long as you are adaptable and open then its easy to work with.
Advice to Senior Management – Ensure consistency on the ground and promote and retain employee motiviation during great change.

I have been working at JDSU full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Motivated and responsible engineers exist and it is very nice to work with those folks rather than dealing with someone whose only focus is to get something done at all costs. Engineering designs should be done not in a hacked way, but rather while thinking of its long term consequences and affects on other sides of the bigger design, involving other projects (now and in the future)
Cons – I don't believe there is effort coming from the senior and mid management to retain talented (and already trained for the work we do) in the company. Money as well as ranking changes I don't think are used properly to satisfy talented people. This in the long run will cripple the engineering part of the company, which will most likely affect the companies' ability to sustain its promised growth.
Advice to Senior Management – Please pay more attention to retain the talented engineers with the company. Those people are hard to keep as they tend to be smarter than the rest - They will leave the company after waiting a bit if they don't get what they believe they should: Promotion (aka give them more responsibility) and money. I don't believe these two tools are used properly and on-time to keep the talent in-house.
