Senior Management is incapable. Culture is a facade executives hide behind.

I have been working at Ivie (more than a year)

    Pros

Work with some large retail corporations

    Cons

~Senior management is arrogant, out of touch, most are above 50 and all are close friends of the executives
~From start to finish, projects are managed in a completely chaotic, random and unprofessional manner
    ~Raises are non-existent--unless you consider a cost-of-living raise sufficient
~There is a pseudo-culture that is forced down the brain-washed lower-level employees throats. Those of us who are educated and knowledgeable can see right through it.
~All account management/client services employees are located on site with the clients so there is a huge disconnect between the employees who serve the clients and the production, creative, procurement, etc. This is "sold" by the company as a benefit but the ball is constantly dropped due to this model.
~Career path and upward movement is non-existent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a lesson from the other agencies--they are thriving for a reason. Don't put all your proverbial eggs in one basket. When you loose that "big" client, to which all your efforts go, you'll be nothing more than a shop for all the small grocery chains lean on for their weekly ads.

I worked at Ivie full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Employees are your friends
    Work-life balance is great
    Decent pay

    Cons

Empty promises, unless you're a new hire.
    Cubicle life.
Only allowed to wear jeans on Fridays.
    Doesn't offer a creative envoronment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take complaints about other management seriously. It would be a nice change of pace for mgmt to take care of their employees as well as we take care of clients.

I worked at Ivie full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Lots of down time, plenty of time to socialize and network.
    Also, they worship their interns.

    Cons

Leadership lacks leadership and turns a blind eye while different departments throw each other under the bus and points fingers at each other. This is an inexperienced and extremely insecure company that operates out of fear and uncertainly, so they bicker and gossip about everyone; each project is executed with little style or finesse because no one truly has any idea what's going on.

Don't expect to get paid well here; they low ball you. And management is extremely unprofessional, disorganized, and disengaged - that's why there's a lot of blaming and stealing revenue shares. There are also employees with mediocre experience who should be fired, but they stay around because of nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of digital because you really don't know what to do with it. Stick with print because it's all that you know.

    Pros

Location: conveniently located in the suburbs.
    Nice office.
    Small, homey feel.
Good place to start a career.

    Cons

    Low salaries.
    Lackluster management.
Company bites off more than it can chew.

Despite low salaries the president has no problem driving his Ferrari to work and parking it in front of the office across multiple spots; a nice reminder that not everyone is underpaid.

    Pros

The people are great. Good benefit package. Big name clients.

    Cons

A ton of work for very low pay. Political. No time to mentor because every piece of business starts out chaotic with no plan in place. It's sink or swim.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Ivie

    Pros

Great company culture, great experience with Walmart.

    Cons

Promotions and raises are slow-going. Plus, working onsite for the client has been stressful and unpleasant, you don't get the same perks as working for Ivie.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More opportunity for growth and mentoring.
