An Engineering motivated company with ample Career growth

Performance Architect (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for less than a year

ProsDay to day activity involves complex engineering problem solving.
Accomplishment acknowledgements and promotions.
Engineering culture with no work place politics to allow growth and development in all verticals and horizontals based on individual interest

ConsLarge corporation dealing with lot of nuclear business units, aids growth but possibly with loss of efficiency when untamed.
Technology talent/funding invested largely in the core businesses, more motivation to invest talent in new ideas could provide spin-off business portfolios at lower investments.

Rewarding but becoming more bureaucratic.

Technical Program Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBenefits and perks are great.

ConsPolitics and resistance to change

Advice to Senior ManagementJust because you've always done it this way attitude doesn't work anymore.

Internship

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I worked at Intel Corporation as an intern for more than a year

ProsGreat salary for interns. Intel treats the interns very well, good salary great benefits a lot of online training and
other things.

ConsIntel treats all the Interns very well. It is a great place if you want to work on embedded systems. But it would be a challenge to find an applications to do for the people who not really likes embedded and firmware.

Truely Intel inside

Systems Engineer (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for less than a year

ProsRange of products is wide. Company does not shy away from investing in interesting ideas. Compensates pretty well. Encourages to take risks. Senior managers appreciate young talent and ideas.

ConsIt is bit sluggish due to its size. You will always meet some unwelcoming people in every company. But I think pros win over cons at Intel.

Advice to Senior ManagementSynergize research and product teams in mobile division. Intel has purchased many startups, should allow a channel for current employees to join the newly acquired startup teams if interested.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than a year

ProsWork is not very interesting, but the salary compared with the work load is satisfactory

ConsInnovation is frowned upon. Dealing with lower management can sometimes become headache.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork for well plan and exciting vision!

Overall, good place to work.

Finance Specialist (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

ProsSenior leaders are very transparent mostly and willing to make changes to adapt to the marketplace. Intel also really does try to listen to the employees as much as they can and try to do the right things both for the employees and the community and the world in general (Intel is world class in ethics and corporate citizenship)

ConsIt is still a big company with the pros and cons, you need to work to stand out to make your accomplishments known. Can be hard to move into people management roles. The culture can be abrasive and rude in some groups (which may be a good or bad thing to you).

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to be open to receiving feedback from employees and being transparent.

Becoming a nightmare of backstabbing paranoid asskissers

Marketing Manager (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

ProsTechnology industry, pays better than non-tech companies in the area.

ConsAbsolutely no teamwork or collaboration. Everything is a zero sum game - for me to do well, someone else has to do poorly, reality be damned. It's becoming less and less about how competent people are, and much more about who's ass you kiss, and who you are friends outside of work with.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually follow through on the words you use. It not a meritocracy when we are told that we have to accept "what the tool spits out" instead of actually rewarding good employees. Also instead of continuing to promote people to management simply because they are good contributors, maybe you actually promote and reward people for developing employees and being a good manager.
