I have been working at Imperial Oil as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The people and the processes of how they do business. Worked primarily with an Exxon-Mobil team, where they have a edge with their project management experience and process. Great Pay and benefits.

Navigating IT issues and getting things done takes time. This is to be expected of such a large organization. Perf. rankings are a forced distribution which can be annoying.

I have been working at Imperial Oil full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Imperial provides a wide range of opportunities for a life long career that develops an individuals talents and aspirations. Being owned by ExxonMobil allows a lot of overseas assignment that can further develop one talents and travel experiences. Due to the large bubble of baby boomers the chance for earlier leadership advancement is good if the talents are demonstrated.

    Cons

The company philosophy of changing to an open office cubical environment is very damaging to those that need peace and quite to be productive. Bureaucratic and processes to complete processes sometimes is over whelming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop better communication with the employees in the trenches.
