Calgary, AB

Former Employee – worked at Imperial Oil full-time for more than 7 years

Pros- Salary , health and dental benefits are the only good things about this company

Cons- Poor and controlling management ( you will never work on a projet from start to finish, because as soon as managers realize that you are doing a good job, they take over your project and pretend is theirs)
-Too many processes , people are never able to create or use their knowledge and education to improve this process oriented factory.
- Managers don't care about employees, there are no bonuses, if they don't over a good start salary your reviews will always be to a maximun of 5% per year, nobody gets more other than senior managers
-Poisoneous environment to work, people don't smile, you are asked to work overtime without pay, and everyone complains about everyone

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure that you know what is going on inside of your own company
Treat employees fairly
Listen to employees before making judgement based only on supervisors views
Give your HR department a bit more conrol, as they are unable to do nothing for employees

Calgary, AB

Former Employee – worked at Imperial Oil as an intern for less than a year

ProsGood pay, many benefits such as travel, training, etc. Good safety culture (can be annoying but stil good)

ConsVery rigid organizational structure. Conservative, obsessed with "company assets" e.g. don't use a company desk to do your own stuff during lunch time.
And, they are one of the worst in the world environmentally, not just by the nature of their industry but they go for compliance and not beyond.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis is the 21st Century:
-Rethink how rigid everything is for employees
-Change name to Imperial Renewables and get going with some alternative energy (natural gas doesn't count)

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
