Current Employee – been working at IMS Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Team work, within (if not across) teams
Cons – no work-life abklance. large disjoint, some groups are over-staffed and slack off, some groups are under-staffed and are continuously being asked to eat into any remaining personal time "for the good of the company" .
The company is being prepped for sale and it is very evident in how the country is managed.
Advice to Senior Management – People make or break a company. you devalue your people you devalue your company.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at IMS Health full-time for more than a year
Pros – - Great work life balance in my group (Advanced Analytics) but I hear this varies by group. Very flexibly with working from home. They just care that you get your work done on time and do it well.
- A lot of independence
- Compensation is pretty good especially since the hours are very reasonable.
Cons – - Constant reorganization with no clear benefit/goals. I am on my fourth boss in about 1.5 years.
- Poor sr. management communication. We are kept in the dark about how well different segments are doing.
- No career growth in Advanced Analytics for most people. People do get promoted with small salary bumps now and then, but their work/responsibilities does not really change. It gets boring very quickly.
- Location (very high traffic area no matter where you are commuting from, and nothing around the office but more office parks)
- Trying to organize the company like an assembly line. They separate analytics from actual consulting - one person does the sales/BD, another does the actual analytics, and the consulting team puts together a slide deck and presents the results. It is very inefficient. By the time you hand over work to the next phase in delivery, you might as well have done the whole project yourself.
- Very strong emphasis on trying to standardize and outsource what they can to China.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop reorganizing every quarter. Provide a career path for people who do want to advance. Share more information on company performance.
You can not outsource projects that require individual client attention and constant communication.

Former Employee – worked at IMS Health full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Build contacts with people in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Get a handle how and what sales and marketing data is consumed by the Pharmaceutical industry
Cons – Is now more like a sweatshop since it has been taken over by venture capitalists. Used to be a great and friendly company to work for. That has all changed since 2000. Management once fired a person on the same day this person was received a super red letter day reward. Figure that one out. IMS has been known for a shambolic ally managed (dis organised) company.
Advice to Senior Management – Look at your morals
