I worked at IBM as a contractor for less than a year

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Huge company, therefore there's opportunity to move around and try different roles
Cons – Too big, lost sight of what IBM is and where they came from. It's no longer a company that values it's people, it simply values the $ and share price.
Advice to Senior Management – I think Thomas Watson would turn in his grave if he could see and hear what IBM had become over the past decade. He was a man of honor, integrity, foresight and innovation. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I felt that any of these attributes were being applied to the job that we do or the way in which we treat people.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at IBM
Pros – You can have flexible hours so that you can come in late and leave later or come in early and leave earlier. You can work from home as long as it doesn't impact your schedule.
Cons – When we are nearing the end of a product cycle, you are expected to work lots of hours and there is no OT pay.
Advice to Senior Management – Compensate the employees better with the amount of efforts they put in.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Very smart and friendly people. You feel like working only with high level specialists or first class experts. Many opportunities to meet and/or talk with people from other lines of business or geographical areas. Many opportunities for professional development.
Cons – Sometimes the process of starting a new initiative can be too slow.
Advice to Senior Management – Bring upper level of management closer down to people.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than a year
Pros – * Decent pay
* Interesting projects -- IBM has their hands in a lot of cool stuff
* Lots of opportunity to move around (and up)
* Work with the best equipment (IBM makes some of the best servers, storage units, etc.)
* Big company, meaning nice perks like travel, up-to-date equipment, etc.
Cons – * Situated in Markham
* I was doing my internship during the recession of 2008. I was quite put off by the fact that I saw many senior-level people shown the door around January of 2008, while, at the same time, IBM was continuing to hire interns for cheap labour. Ultimately, I decided to go to grad school instead of accepting the full-time offer of employment that they made to me. Nevertheless, I had a great time there and learned a lot.

I worked at IBM as an intern for more than a year
Pros – The facility is great, my manager was very understanding and encouraging, and most of the experienced developers and managers are friendly.
Cons – Very bad learning environment due to lack of standardized educational material or procedures. Very help based system of work, you have to constantly ask for help, asking for help itself is a waste of time in my opinion.
Advice to Senior Management – Could use a little more experienced/skilled employees to help the new comers. As well as classes and one on one sessions where new comers will be taught for a few months, before they are left to their own.

I have been working at IBM
Pros – Access to the best of the best, and all with the name of IBM on your resume. IBM has their fingers in almost every aspect of life, and working for this company opens up opportunities beyond those available with other employers.
Cons – You have to learn to roll with the punches. Globalization and cost factoring are an every day reality that even IBM is susceptible to. If you're expecting to get a good raise or a fair bonus, then think again, because that won't happen here. Your real compensation is working on the projects and with the people, and using that to further your carreer.
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize your top talent by what they do, not just who they are. Reward your rank-and-file people appropriately, and remember that the size of the reward is sometimes much more significant than the fact that they're getting one in the first place.

I have been working at IBM full-time for less than a year
Pros – The pay is very high.
Cons – The people I work with are insane. They believe the most ridiculous things. Very brain washed. Overly concerned with security to the point where it's ridiculous. For example we have some old laptops and towers to dispose of and we send them half way accros the country just so they can be disposed of at an IBM owned facility, and this is after using DBAN to wipe each hard drive.
Advice to Senior Management – Fire everyone in the Victoria lab.
