I have been working at Hudson Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent pay, promote within. Some managers are understanding

    Cons

Work can be hectic with somedays not taking a break. This company do not support their employes if you have other priorities, such as school which is not good. Employee handbook should be viewed by management because they do not follow it, when it comes to associates benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engaged more with your employees instead of acting as if we don't exist to you. your associates are the face to your company, acknowledge us because without us generating sales and increasing cash flow- there wouldn't be a Hudson Group

My experience has not been healthy at all, especially because of the Manager.

    I worked at Hudson Group

    Pros

I found a little flexibility with scheduling work hours.

    Cons

The company does not have a good team to work with nor does it have a good Manager. People are very unhappy there.

  7.

Fast-paced, engaging work environment; but company leadership is insensitive and unappreciative.

    Current Employee - Store Manager

I have been working at Hudson Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you work in operations, the environment is never boring. Working in airport retail provides constant stimulation; you're always faced with new people and new situations. And yet it's nice being part of a constant fixture that provides a helpful and comforting service to the passengers who come and go.

    Cons

Company leadership places a very low value on hiring middle/upper managers who have decent (and in some cases, even basic) people-management skills. The store managers and below who work under these guys are treated very poorly: long hours and constant feedback on what they're doing wrong, but with minimal support or appreciation. When smart, reasonable people are hired, they tend to leave quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A few years ago, GM's and above supposedly underwent "intensive" emotional intelligence training, with no perceivable result. Maybe try it again, but with real commitment? Until this company places a real value on making its employees feel valued and supported, and giving them the tools, training, and resources to deliver on what's expected of them, the best of them (and Hudson's best hope for the future) will continue to leave.

I worked at Hudson Group part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fellow employees and even customers would always make the work day a bit easier. Pay wasn't the worst but it also could've been better.

    Cons

Upper management. As a outside hire for supervisor, several of our managers seemed to have it out for me just on the basis of someone that would kiss up to them didn't get promoted and I got the job instead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like human beings.

I have been working at Hudson Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

had gratifying customer service memories. Great and respectable international customers all around.

easy to do job if you are great with customer service.

    Cons

no real growth advancement opportunities. no recognition at all from management if you're doing a great job.

pay is BAD; Management and HR are very dishonest.

You have to initiate into a union .. it is a thing they DO not tell you . benefits are given after 6 months..

managers are NOT professional .. degrading employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do not LIE to your employees; they will find out how wrong you did them. Illogical to have dissatisfied employees.

make incentives in order to promote a higher degree of employee satisfaction

hire managers that are reputable to where they actually LEAD a team.

I worked at Hudson Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pay is good for retail.

    Cons

Everyone has an attitude, especially the sales associates. You don't do anything but stand all day and everyone is so bored that they just gossip and bad mouth everyone in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The sales associates are rude and disrespectful to new co workers. They encourage each other to talk back to supervisors and even the supervisors steal from the company on overages from the register.

Former Employee - Senior Executive in East Rutherford, NJ (US)

I worked at Hudson Group full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Travel, challenges, a good place for employees that live to work and have no life outside of what they do for a living.

    Cons

Finger pointing by senior execs. If something goes wrong, they attribute it to someone who had nothing to do with the problem to get the heat off themselves. Diversionary tactics to make them look like they are being proactive in protecting the company against lone individuals who are actually following the rules and have the company's best interest at heart. President is surrounded by ego maniacs who are more concerned with covering their collective asses than improving and protecting the organization. There are a few outstanding top execs. However a few rotten apples have been stinking up the place for a very long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a long hard look at those around you, and regardless of personal relationships, clean your house for your future and the future growth of the company. Those that have done harm time and time again are not a good reflection on your ability to select top management. Hold close to the senior executives and managers that would bleed Hudson blue for you and who have worked their hearts out for you. Don't be so easily influenced by the folks closest to you as all many of them are concerned with is riding your coat tails wherever you take them. Weed out the overblown egos, while their numbers might look good, someone who actually cares about the company could produce a better bottom line and employees from the top down would be much happier working for your organization. Get rid of divisions, and function as one group. Note the "challenges and opportunities "you attributed to former employees continue today, and in future, get to the root before deciding to cast people out. Everyone that surrounds you should be as passionate and as committed as you are and should be equally as outstanding.
