Current Employee – been working at Hennepin County Medical Center
Pros – work around your schedule. give you hours if you want them and not if you dont.
Cons – some of the management...is rude.
Advice to Senior Management – Work with your employees more rather than play favoritism. Everyone deserves to be treated equally, not just people who you personally like for whatever reason.

Current Employee – been working at Hennepin County Medical Center full-time for more than a year
Pros – The organizations mission and the dedication of the staff to serve the local community. Great benefits and pay.
Cons – Dis-functional departments and too many silos. Managers do not seem to understand what is going on within their department or outside their department. Lack of growth opportunities. If you are ambitious I will recommend to try to lean as much as you can about the department you are join to make sure it is a good fit.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on breaking down the silos that exist through out the organization. The place is been managed as a government entity and not as a not for profit focused on providing efficient and cost effective services. Too much waste. Also increase the focus on the outreach to more paying patients.

Cons – Management, Scheduling, shortages of staffing, professionalism.
Advice to Senior Management – Employees who are there to actually work should be rewarded and used as the example and not taken advantage of and abused for those that just take up space.

Current Employee – been working at Hennepin County Medical Center
Pros – Improvements do occur when senior management is aware of benefits. Company has long history will be around in 100 years.
Cons – Not enough recognition, pay increases, training or upward mobility.
Advice to Senior Management – Re-analyze current mangement structure and get the reall management back down to line level and not director level. The less there are directors the better, more managers that roll up to less directors. Directors are not managers at HCMC they are misplaced.

Former Employee – worked at Hennepin County Medical Center
Pros – Still has good benefit package.
Can feel you are doing Important work in community.
Nationally recognized hospital, can be proud of workplace.
Cons – Extreme budget shortfall--constant reductions of staff and increase of work pressure and responsibilities for remaining staff.
Unstable management--frequent changes of management people and of goal focus as hospital separates from County management.
Poor moral in almost all departments.
Advice to Senior Management – Most employees take pride in their jobs and are aware of extreme budget pressures. But they can not be stretched beyond a certain point--many departments are already running only by allowing massive overtime and running employees at burn-out level.
