    Pros

Flexibile scheduling, benefits, lots of areas to grow.

Its retail so each store can and will have its own ups and downs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    The people are generally friendly
You definitely have a lot of work
I was fortunate to have a great assistant manager

    Cons

You don't have much say in what work you do
They almost always ask you to stay overtime
    They pay could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow more communication between the laborers and Corporate. I have heard a lot of really good ideas on how to improve things, but they never get anywhere because of this wall.

    Pros

    decent pay and benefits,
    VERY flexible hours,
    Bonus Checks twice a year.

    Cons

total hours in departments are kept low, but superior service is demanded over competing companies. hard to do when there are not enough people sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more people on the front end. stop expecting Homeshop to work harder than a cashier at the same pay. Its a very hectic position.

    I worked at Harris Teeter

    Pros

Respectable pay, good opportunities for advancement. If you manage to get full time the benefits are excellent for a grocery store.

    Cons

Every six months the management staff at a store completely changes. Not all at once, mind you, but there is so much flux with people moving from store to store that nothing remains constant for long.

    Pros

Job was exactly as described, very flexible scheduling and the culture was quite decent. As I was not looking for long term employment, not having employment advancement opportunities did not bother me. Overall a good company.

    Cons

Not much time given during the work hours for breaks, the work is very menial and unfulfilling and the pay is relatively low. However, for me this was all expected.

    Pros

The pay is good and is a good environment

    Cons

If you're a bagger there more than likely only 2 or 1 there a day, so if you work as one you will do all the work trash , carts and cleaning the bathroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give us a bonus and raise pay rate.

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Hmm what I liked about working at Harris Teeter is that the store stays nice and clean for the customers. Also I liked that it is really and truly a customer service establishment. no doubt!

    Cons

The things I disliked while working there is that if you get a customer complaint none of the managers care to investigate and actually ask you-the worker what happened. They just assume the customer is telling the truth and give you a write up. I also dislike the fact that they are now hiring teenie boopers who could care less if they are scheduled to work and not show up. Not only that the managers don't even bother to write them up. Not all of the teenagers are like that but I would say 85% of the ones they hire are. Also I dislike that the company does not even request raises to those who chose to step up from a cashier/bagger to customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to managers please have more of a backbone to write people up when policies have been broken...even if you are doing your friend a favor by hiring their child.

    Pros

Great company, Really cares about their customers, Discounts on groceries, Advancement through the company is easy if you work hard enough.

    Cons

GOSSIP. people talk to make themselves look so much better then they are, Everyone just throws each other under the bus so that they look better constantly, its hard to keep people because of this and upper management does nothing to change it. They hire whoever and at least my store they do not call prior employers so people lie to get hired a lot and have zero experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees as much as you care about customers
