I worked at H&M part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible shifts, friendly co-workers and managers, rotating responsibilities (e.g., cash, fitting room, cleaning, stockroom, etc.), designer collaborations fun, good culture, decent employee discount...

    Cons

Sometimes short-staffed during busy periods and as a result, really difficult to help customers; things constantly on the floor...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep making quality garments; don't cheapen your product! I used to shop there more frequently but nowadays I don't anymore...

    I worked at H&M full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Its fun to work in a team and it really depends on which store you work at because each store has different dynamics and teams.

    Cons

You might get stuck there as is unless you let the people from head office know that you want to move up and that might be pretty hard if you are not their favourite. Depending on the store location and the kind of customer you get, it's really hard to handle complaints

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please do not play favourites and see who deserve to move up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at H&M part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Lots of opportunity for growth
-Great benefits, including paid vacation for birthday's
    -The company internationally is great
-Opportunity to travel with company for store openings.

    Cons

-Employee discount on merchandise is mediocre
-Lack of communication between management and the store level, including conflicting attitudes.
-Negativity at national level, which has made its way down to the area level.
-Cost cutting wherever possible, including hours and staff members. The idea is that they try to run the store on as few employees as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Canada head office needs to take on the same attitudes as our European offices.

flexible, great staff, special designer collection

    Cons

poor pay, cheap discount, need to work on new policies regarding customers!

    I worked at H&M full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - the benefits are pretty fantastic as a full-timer and manager
    - 2/3 co-workers are usually fantastic to work with
    - are willing to relocate you if necessary and possible
    - you can go really far in the company if you have a strong desire and are an actual good worker
    - open door policy
    - the company itself is pretty responsible and puts in a lot of effort to better itself each year

    Cons

    - a lot is expected of you on the floor
    - they somehow manage to promote/hire rather useless people as management (i'm referring to the managers who will sit in the back for hours and make up excuses when you need their help on the floor)
    - there is rarely any follow up on any sort of problems within store level
    - they absolutely LOVE cutting hours, they do not care how strained the person will be on the floor
    - people from head office expect a lot from you and don't take into recognition the type of store you are, the lack of hours in your store and how insanely different it is to work in the stores today versus 5 or 6 years ago when they were once working at store level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair and stop being so cheap. Stop cashing out money on things like lanyards and start cashing out on your employees. I've worked for almost 5 years at this company and each year the employees are just getting more and more careless about the job because it feels like this company doesn't care about it's employees as much as they used to. And if you're SO concerned about sales then stop placing the stores so close to each other. You are cannibalizing the company!
