I have been working at H&M part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Lots of opportunity for growth
-Great benefits, including paid vacation for birthday's
    -The company internationally is great
-Opportunity to travel with company for store openings.

    Cons

-Employee discount on merchandise is mediocre
-Lack of communication between management and the store level, including conflicting attitudes.
-Negativity at national level, which has made its way down to the area level.
-Cost cutting wherever possible, including hours and staff members. The idea is that they try to run the store on as few employees as possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Canada head office needs to take on the same attitudes as our European offices.

    Pros

flexible, great staff, special designer collection

    Cons

poor pay, cheap discount, need to work on new policies regarding customers!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees should be allowed to tell customers to not leave their drinks, personal items anywhere in the store! Plus they should also not let the clothing on the floor!

    I worked at H&M full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - the benefits are pretty fantastic as a full-timer and manager
    - 2/3 co-workers are usually fantastic to work with
    - are willing to relocate you if necessary and possible
    - you can go really far in the company if you have a strong desire and are an actual good worker
    - open door policy
    - the company itself is pretty responsible and puts in a lot of effort to better itself each year

    Cons

    - a lot is expected of you on the floor
    - they somehow manage to promote/hire rather useless people as management (i'm referring to the managers who will sit in the back for hours and make up excuses when you need their help on the floor)
    - there is rarely any follow up on any sort of problems within store level
    - they absolutely LOVE cutting hours, they do not care how strained the person will be on the floor
    - people from head office expect a lot from you and don't take into recognition the type of store you are, the lack of hours in your store and how insanely different it is to work in the stores today versus 5 or 6 years ago when they were once working at store level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair and stop being so cheap. Stop cashing out money on things like lanyards and start cashing out on your employees. I've worked for almost 5 years at this company and each year the employees are just getting more and more careless about the job because it feels like this company doesn't care about it's employees as much as they used to. And if you're SO concerned about sales then stop placing the stores so close to each other. You are cannibalizing the company!

I worked at H&M part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Clothing discounts, central location, good music played during shift, co-workers are tolerable to work with.

    Cons

co-workers will back stab each other for more hours, wage increase takes long time, hours can be unpredictable, managers employ favoritism among employees all the time, expected to work over time.

I worked at H&M part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Interesting and personable people to work with, very social environment
If you have a larger store in a larger city, meetings will go swimmingly (with refreshments) despite having to show up to work before opening that day and only for a few hours
    Employee discount (25%)

    Cons

Overworked, long hours for a minimum wage job
Lots of running around, being on your feet
    Rude, uncompromising customers
Unexpected and relatively frequent instances of theft

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stores are large (including back offices, truck area, etc) and usually understaffed: one sales associate can't be everywhere at once.

    I have been working at H&M part-time

    Pros

My coworkers are fantastic, there is plenty of room to grow if you live in a major city. The company is really great I love it a lot.

    Cons

The biggest are mostly related to my current store specifically and weren't nearly as bad when I worked elsewhere. The training is terrible, the management is terrible and constantly changing and the favouritism is ridiculous.
