    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

HEB has always been great with allowing Partners to have a flexible schedule. Very understanding when you need time off. Great pay for any position above a CSA (Bagger) with 2 raises a year! Great store events and even discounts and free items to try weekly!

    Cons

With 8 years of company experience and qualifications to move up to the corporate side of the company, I can not even get a phone interview when applying for multiple positions in the IT side of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Partners with a lot of company experience (5+ years) should at least get a phone interview when applying for a corporate position if they meet most of the requirements. Company loyalty is huge and you are missing out on some great Partners that have recently graduated by hiring outside of the company.

    I have been working at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the flexibility, the pay is decent, unless you plan to move up with the company & the 10% discount is fun especially when the company gives free items.

    Cons

Too much favortism, the service area (cashier, PLAs, CSA,CSR, etc) turnover rate is high. Managers come & go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have held a lower-level position once before please act like it. You are no better than the cashiers, PLAs, CSAs, etc. your title just changed.

    I worked at H E B part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a very good starting job for those who are young and finally legal to work. You get opportunities to switch departments if you desire to, and everyone is really friendly in the work environment. If you plan to go to college out of the current city, H-E-B allows you to transfer to another location so you can still work or you can go on "Academic
Leave," which means that they will keep you in the work system, and when you come back for Winter Break, Spring Break, or the summer, you can continue to work at H-E-B.

    Cons

Sometimes the people that you meet and greet while working are unfriendly and impatience, and they get mad at you for some unreasonable things that you cannot control. Just like any other workplace, you will always have those bad customers. But you still have to hold true to the value of the workplace that reads, "The customer is always right," even if you completely disagree with that statement. If you work during the school year, H-E-B is pretty lenient when it comes to scheduling.
