Former Employee – worked at Guess?
Pros – Great staff discount and friendly staff
Cons – Not much opportunity for advancement
Advice to Senior Management – The training is great - I just wish I could apply my education to the company. Limited opportunity of advancement.

Current Employee – been working at Guess? part-time for less than a year
Pros – - well known brand
- good discount
- get along with part time staff
Cons – Part time staff were not getting paid by the manager following the BC law. We had a meeting for 1.5 hours and we only get paid for 1.5 hours. I know by law if an employee who reports for work must be paid for at least two hours, even if the employee works less than two hours.
Management team always changes.
Stressful because it's too busy and very under staff.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay staff according to BC law.
They need to talk with respect to staff. I felt being bossed around.

Current Employee – been working at Guess? part-time
Pros – 40% Discount on the entire Guess family stores, discounts on sale items as well as online and children wear as well
Work in an internationally recognized lead trend-setting environment
Must dress Sexy/Sophisticated each shift and maintain an endearing yet very upbeat persona
Cons – Considering this is the Accessory store - very high sales quota, expected to constantly exceed
Employees are replaceable
Very FEW hours given
Employees can be "blacklisted" - if you have a few shifts with consistently lower than budget sales or any disagreements or altercations with "favorite" employees (ones who bring high revenue) or the management team you will be put on an only on-call schedule but never be asked to come in
Employees are expected to achieve a high amount with little appreciation
Lack of training for such a competitive sales company
Not commission based, few incentives
Advice to Senior Management – More sales incentives
More appreciation of employees

Current Employee – been working at Guess?
Pros – It is usually like a family! They really help you out to try to do well. They really believe in giving you new and important information about the company.
Cons – It is very sales based. Your number of hours are based on the previous week's SPH. If you are a top performer every week and one week you miss you, you get no hours!
Advice to Senior Management – The company is run very well. I understand we have an 'image' but it should not be the most important thing at our work.

Former Employee – worked at Guess?
Pros – The discounts and the clothes
Cons – people fight over and steal sales. The never get a raise for your hard work. Its really hard to get into head office even though you've worked for the company for years.

Current Employee – been working at Guess?
Pros – Great discount, 50% off all merchandise.
Most employees (non management) are good and fun to work with.
Somewhat flexible and accommodating with scheduling.
Fast paced environment.
Cons – Poor management. Micro management is in full effect. Managers show favoritism and lack of respect towards others. There is a lot of gossip and politics. sometimes the environment seems a little too immature.
like the other poster said, Management will make last minute changes to schedules not communicate it to employees, than they will get mad because you didn't show up for a shift you didn't even know you had.
Regional and District Managers are even worse. I believe this is the source of it all. The RM and DM only care about the sales numbers and saving payroll and don't care or show respect their employees.
RM's and DM's show little interest in employee and store feedback. Seems like the communication channel is a one way street only. They set very ridiculous and unrealistic targets and goals, (which they know are unachievable) and than they will get upset and belittle you when you don't achieve them. They seem to enjoy speaking down on you.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop micromanagement, train employees and new managers better. Don't hire new employee's based on looks only.
Regional and District managers need to show more respect and allow for constructive feedback.
I understand we're all in a business to make money and profit, however the Regional and District managers need to employ different management styles. Its not always only about the numbers and stats, take a second to step back and look at the whole picture which includes your employees.

Current Employee – been working at Guess?
Pros – Awesome people working there, young fun and fashionable atmosphere! Great management team! Flexible schedule and they are very understandin about your personnal life specially family and school.
Cons – Too much micro management, low hourly rate, NO COMMISSION even when you make 3000$ of sale a day you get nothing in return.
Advice to Senior Management – You should give a commission to your employees. It is depressing when you sell for 5000 and at the end of the day you only get 85$.
