I have been working at Gartner full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Gartner truly values its employees and our company culture is beyond amazing- everyone here is extremely intelligent and wants to see you succeed. Unlike many sales organizations whose employees are competitive among each other, Gartner employees want to help you and see you grow as well. The organization is very structured and the training is first class- I learned more about business in my 2 months of training than I did in 4 years of undergraduate + 2 years of an MBA. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone.

    Cons

This is definitely not a job for anyone. Your success depends on how much effort you put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at Gartner

    Pros

Great company, great value, high quality employees, very smart analysts. Most customers are happy with the service, some view it as way too expensive.

    Cons

Gartner Israel is managed by a lady who is sharp but has horrible human relations, has no problem to change and cheat in internal reports to win credit of sales of seats to multinational companies internally against Gartner in US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace the manager in Gartner Israel.

I have been working at Gartner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Supportive management- they care about your personal success and development. Team environment- sales reps help each other (for the most part). Mentorships available. Motivating compensation plans. Ethics and transparency are stressed. "Do the Right Thing" is a company motto.

    Cons

Ideas about sales productivity from the field are often ignored

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up a "Make Gartner Better" anonymous inbox on Eagle (company intranet) so the sales team (and others) can submit their constructive ideas to improve sales productivity. Often our ideas get stuck in the middle management layer

I have been working at Gartner full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very collegial environment. Work with very bright, motivated and ethical people. Very good work-life balance. I've looked around at other employers at times but can't find a better situation than at Gartner. In fact, many employees that have left return to Gartner after several years.

    Cons

Consulting involves challenging travel schedules and time away from family. But, this is the nature of the business.

I have been working at Gartner

    Pros

Your love of learning is rewarded as you have immense opportunity to read, talk with, and contribute to the first rate dialogue and discussions ongoing at the firm. This is applicable to all lines - Research, Consulting, Events.

    Great people throughout as well.

You need to be self-directed to thrive, which is a plus in my book. Paint-by-numbers folks should steer clear.

    Cons

A lot of travel. But that's the way of the modern business everywhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Grow the consulting business.

    Pros

Best work/life balance I have ever had in any company.
Great attitude and overall respect FROM executives and managers
Thriving company that is grateful for their employees

    Cons

Personally, I am in a small group so career advancement is a moot point for me. However, it seems my colleagues from other groups have a fair amount of mobility.
