Gardner Denver, Sedalia, MO, provides great opportunities to contribute to a production environment and gain experience.

I have been working at Gardner Denver full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The people are reasonable. There are very few "difficult" people. Everyone that works hard, and keeps a cool head is honored and offered promotional opportunity as they arise.

    Cons

Location. Although Sedalia has most of what anyone could need, people who like living in large cities might not be used to it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Be sure to take notice of those whose work generally goes unnoticed. Small recognition goes a long way here. Empowering people to take charge of their responsibilities without micro management is a real strength here.

I worked at Gardner Denver full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A good training ground to put to use in a future job with their competitors.

    Cons

Lack of progressive career opportunities available for most. If you are favored, then the sky is the limit. Seem to take it personally when someone leaves - especially senior management. Lack support of the average worker to grow them to be better employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Front line workers are your bread and butter. Treat them better. Don't continue to treat people as if they don't matter.

    I worked at Gardner Denver

    Pros

Great coworkers. The managers took an interest in their subordinates and everyone seemed to have an "open door" policy.

    Cons

Not a lot of lateral movement or chances to cross-train. For the most part, it felt that whatever position you were hired for would be the position you would remain in for the duration of your tenure.

    Pros

Great team of people, company with a long history of reliable products that is sinking because of corporate greed.

    Cons

Employees are running away faster than rats from the sinking ship. Senior leadership and HR are trying to stop this but the trust is lost. Administrative overhead is increasing while HR service is reduced.

I have been working at Gardner Denver full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Company with a large global footprint and very proud history. With the recent change in leadership, this proud ship is sinking fast.

    Cons

It is obvious that the new leadership doesn't care about the company and is only interested in selling Gardner Denver for a quick buck. Larsen and his cronies will cash in big time and will not have to work another day in their lives, while the other 7000 employees will be left jobless. So sad.
