    Pros

Amazing company with incredibly talented people. Great exposure to the industry and learning opportunities from senior management.

    Cons

Day to day learning is your responsibility. Everyone is incredibly busy so all the teaching will have to be done by yourself.

    Pros

Great people, great responsibility. An overall great place to be

    Cons

No formal training, no full time offers for college grads

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everything was great. I would have liked to have undergraduate opportunities or a more formal training program.

I worked at Fortress Investment Group as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Interned with the treasury and operations team over the summer. There is a large learning curve and you are thrown into the fire right from the start. If you are willing to put in the hours and go out of your comfort zone to build relationships with the people you work with you will learn a ton. Team members are very close and really try to create a family atmosphere which makes the long hours not too bad. The whole office had a work hard play hard mentality. Everyone there is going to be honest with you and tell you when you have done a good job, when you need to step it up, and how you need to improve. Everyone is very knowledgeable and is more than willing to share what they know and their experiences with the interns. Work on your excel skills, learn VBA, and don't be scared to ask questions.

    Cons

The first week or two is going to be challenging as you try to get your bearings but that is to be expected at a place like Fortress.

    Pros

Intellectual freedom. Ability to develop a solution without undue technical interference.

    Cons

Very racist place. Not a place for someone without elephant thick skin.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to educate your staff about ethics and morals.

I worked at Fortress Investment Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay. The pay is great. This is pretty much the only real benefit about the job. But in the end, it's not really worth the day to day in my opinion.

    Cons

Where to begin? Work life balance is horrible. You are just a body that does work. You have no life. No training for anything and if you make a mistake (depending on your manager) it is like World War 3. No real values or culture. Just work hard and shutup.

I worked at Fortress Investment Group

    Pros

Can potentially pick up a lot of new skills and technologies. Have been known to offer generous bonus incentives upwards of 20% of base.

    Cons

Extremely long work hours not suitable to family work/life balance. Poor, spur of the moment I.T. Management decisions made by non-I.T. personal. I was one of about four let go, just a month short of bonus time. And the manager who made this decision - he himself was let go about 6 months later.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a short term investment in a 3rd party I.T. Solutions team to evaluate and advise on streamlining all of your disparate, disjointed processes into more consolidation and company-wide functionality.

Former Employee - Liquid Markets Analyst in New York, NY (US)

I worked at Fortress Investment Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Pay is reasonable and hours aren't terrible as long as you are efficient and can get your work done
    People are really nice

    Cons

While the people are really nice there is a really weird culture that isn't social at all. It seems the system has gotten so bureaucratic that a lot of people are leaving for more entrepreneurial environments.
There is no buddy system or training program. They throw you right in and if you make mistakes it is on you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider starting a more formal training program and more office events so people get to know each other. There is a group of really social interesting people, and a group of people who won't respond to a hello in the hall so more social interactions would make a difference.
Otherwise Fortress has an extremely bright future!
