Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor as an intern for more than a year
Pros – Well structured business procedures and highly experienced management team. Overall a very buttoned-down organization with great IT group and facilities. Location in Oakville, ON is also a plus.
Cons – Decision making power lies in the US, all support services are out-sourced to the US or india. Skeleton workforce is maintained to keep business running in Canada. As a result few employees are excited about their work and work-life balance is a constant difficulty.

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor full-time for less than a year
Pros – Co-workers were the best part of the job. They made the job tolerable. Benefit of being able to perform maintenance on your own vehicle.
Cons – There's a lack of respect from the management staff towards the employees who are responsible for hard work that makes the company money. Unfair pay for having to purchase your own, expensive, equipment.
Advice to Senior Management – Show more respect to your employees and help them grow instead of putting them down.

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor full-time for less than a year
Pros – A great way to break into the sales world. Pay plan is better than average.
Cons – Average new hire last less than one month. Very stressful and demanding work environment. Employeer will require you to "volunteer" to work overtime with no compensation.
Advice to Senior Management – Relax. Also, evolve into a modern company. The "good ol' days" of the slimy sales man have come and gone.

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor
Pros – Vehicle discounts, good benefits, decent compensation package, challenging work environment, opportunities for advancement exist for those willing to play the game
Cons – No respect for work/life balance, although overtime is paid for some salaried employees, it is typical to put in for 20 hours of overtime during a pay period and have an area manager arbitrarily decide you will be paid for less than half of them. The company owns you. I have known people whose vacations to Europe were cancelled at the last second because they were suddenly needed to fill in for a manager's pet employee. My area manager used to throw his two-way radio at people and berate supervisors in front their employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your salaried employees with more respect and consider promoting individuals based on their skills and value to the business rather than on their inability to perform their existing job. Peter's Principle is alive and well at Ford, and shouldn't be.

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor
Pros – Amazing work culture
Very approachable leaders
Managers' approach from a mentoring standpoint - collegial and no pressure
Very competitive and transparent rating program and leadership development program
Cons – One quickly gets into silos and inter organizational mobility is limited to the geography of work
Very few international job opportunities
Virtually impossible to break into the international leadership group (ISE) if employed in a region
Finance is at the core of the organization - decisions get made not on how much business sense it makes but on pure budget needs
Advice to Senior Management – Organization needs to be more cognizant of increasing non-finance salience of strategic decisions
Need a strong leadership development program that is equitable and meritocratic that taps on the best talent irrespective of regional location/background

Current Employee – been working at Ford Motor
Pros – they make really good cars. The some ppl working there are good too but not everyone (mostly).
Its located in good place all highways are easily accessible
Cons – worst place to work. Full time hired ppl just don't do any kind of work as they are so called UNIONIZED. It was worst experience for 4 months of my work. Not a very good pay overall and
have to park non ford cars very far from parking or they put a ticket on any other car.
Advice to Senior Management – Please improve your management
Get work equally from everyone and they solve parking problems as well.
I had to walk 20 min and even supervisor did not help me out in this situation

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor
Pros – Bare the current economic turbulence Ford is a an excellent company to work for. Great growth potential and good co workers. If you have the get up and go to create your own success through hard work and persistence then Ford offers a great product with a loyal customer base to build your career on. If you are self motivated and willing to be creative to meet your sales targets then you should find this a great company to work for. No such thing as a free ride 100% EFFORT = 100% SATISFACTION
Cons – Long hours and vulnerable to economic down turns
Advice to Senior Management – When life throws you lemons make lemonade

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor
Pros – I worked as a summer student at the PDC in Bramalea. The job paid my tuition. For the amount of work most students actually had to do, the money was unbeatable. It was nice to work with other students who had similar aspirations and experiences with Ford because one or more relative worked for the company.
Cons – It was sweaty, frustrating work. As students we had to pay union dues but were not at all protected by the union. The system for deciding who made mistakes was majorly flawed and the supervisors did not understand how the centre ran so they were ill-equipped to understand most of the issues that we faced on a daily basis.
Advice to Senior Management – N/A

Former Employee – worked at Ford Motor
Pros – You learn and develop very quickly as your survival depends on it and the compensation and benefits are the best part and mostly the only reason why most employees remain.
Cons – Working in the manufacturing plant directly the pace is can absolute crazy dealing with a union that can be your maker and management that you do not know sometimes what side they are on and treats you like your back in the stone age ready to beat you with a hammer when the opportunity arises. There is a lot of internal politics as continued employment and career advancement opportunities are predicated by who you know and not what you know. Very stressful environment.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn from other top organizations how to treat and manage your employees.
